New clutch smoking

Just got my car back from having a new clutch put in.

This COULD just be my fault... the clutch engages and disengages much further up on the pedal than before. Maybe I was riding it because of it, but I dont really think I was riding it that bad if at all.

Could it be oil or tranny oil that might have leaked out during the install?

Anything else anyone can think of? Should I call the mechanic back up and ask him what he F'ed up?

Call him and have him look at it one way or another before you drive it anymore. It sounds like the adjustment could be too tight and the clutch is slipping.

A new clutch does not smoke.
