Hey guys I've been having issues with upgrading my ignition for over a month now. First I changed distributor to msd pro billet stock replacement. Car would idle rough and if I rev it, it would bounce at 2k like it had a rev limiter. Msd said to change out module back to stock so I did. Didn't help. Then they said its the pickups inside that are bad and to exchange it. New one same issue so I switched to mallory. Mallory dizzy has same issue. I called them they said it needs more spark so I installed the 6al2 programable box that I had. Tested msd box and it works but don't know if power is getting past coil. (Msd tfi blaster 2) I touched coil wire to ground to see if it would spark and got nothing.

Questions...

What would cause my car to not like any other distributor other then my rusty stock one?

How do i test msd box output going to coil? There is an orange and black wire connected to it.

Could the coil all of a sudden just stop working?

Thanks

Coils can and will die, and fortunately the replacement is only about $15.
MSD stands for May Suddenly Die. Ditch it and go back the the stock distributor and a new coil. Sell the fancy stuff on eBay and recover your losses. The stock ignition is good enough for any engine without pressurized induction or NO2.
