So i'm going to be ordering a DSS 347. I'm not sure if I want to go with a T56 or just an upgraded sronger T5. I'm not really going to be racing it but I think a T56 with 3:73's would be nice. I'm also going to be lowering the car not sure what type of stuff I should do, not sure if i should do coil over or what. my budget it 10k for engine, transmission, suspention, wheels, and anything else I want to get to make my mustang cool and stand out. And ideas? I'm thinking of adding a Kenne Bell supercharger to the package as well not sure though.

well that's what I was told was the limit but all that stuff was said to be done so I don't really know what my limit is probably just being able to get the engine, transmission, lowering springs, new gears, and all that jaz. I'm thinking about going with the T56 but not sure as of yet.

the engine is going to cost you like 5k, the tranny like 2500, wheels 1k, gears about 500, that leaves about thousand bucks for injectors, throttle body, fuel pump, mass air, heads, and intake. your way over shooting your budget with all that.

my advice: get the 347 long block, with a AFM N-# cam. (this will cost about 6k)get a used aftermarket intake(400 tops), then a T-56 if you must have 6 gears(again 2500), but otherwise i would say get a used t3550 or tko(1500 or so). put in the gears.(400-500). that leaves about 1500 for supporting hardware.

$10K can go by very quickly.

I'm putting together a couple engine option lists together, because I'm going to do something major to my engine in about 6 to 12 months. The costs for the engine and tranny alone can cost $10K, if your looking at all brand new stuff.

Check out my suspension stuff (some bushings and whatnot are not listed), cause I've spent about $1,500 or more so far. My brakes were another $1,000.

A g-force T5 would only cost between $1K and $1.5K.
Shortblock or longblock? CHP's 347 is gonna cost me $6,500 (complete engine)
Supporting hardware for the engine could be $1,000 easy for new stuff.
Labor? For me it is necessary.
Goals? That could raise the costs substantially.

My other option is basically getting my stock engine rebuilt (probably to a 306) and slapping on a Kenne Bell with a custom strut tower brace. I need my stang to be a daily driver that can pass emissions and have a new/rebuilt engine that can last 100,000 miles. Power just needs to be over 300 rwhp. The main problem with the rebuild option is finding a reputable local shop that will get the job done right the first time so that I end up with a reliable engine.

My suggestion would be to do some basic suspension upgrades and get better brakes. Subframe connectors that weld in are a must. This will improve the safety of your car and be a good foundation to build power on.

Without even mentioning specific engine parts and combos, it seems that costs can get out of hand quickly if not planned out well.

I've thought about the T56, but I just don't think I'll need it. If my wife ups my budget later on, maybe, but the costs go up, cause I'll need a new driveshaft and other modifications, let alone the cost for the tranny itself.

Let us know where you're interested in putting your dough.

Good luck.

The engine is 5k with heads already on it, The transmission depending on what I get is not 2500. Gears are 150, wheels are less than 1k with tires mounted, all I need would be intake, injectors, throttle body already have a new 255lph fuel pump, all i would need is a MAF. I'm going to find out today what my budget is. I'm also waiting for a quote on a compleat engine. So we shall see what my damage is lol. Thanks for all the help.

Yeah I know how $ can just go out of contorl when it comes to fixing up your stang. I was looking at a DSS Long block but I want to get a compleat engine that I can just take the old one out and put the new one in. Right now I just want the damn engine and Transmission. My dad wants to do all the other crap I just want it running again i miss it i haven't driven it in over 3-4 months now lol. But I'll find out exactly what my dad wants to do, he is funding the project so he can use it as his show car in his car club lol.

My long block was like $3k, T56 was like $4-5k then with labor and all the misc. stuff you never plan on doing adds up very quickly. I spent more then $10g's on my drivetrain set up and now I have huge regrets for not getting new motor mounts $140 while the bay was open.

Now I have a problem so bad that I cant drive the car for a year. The engine is twisted one way, the trany the same or other way, the drive shaft may be bent and I have a bad grinding noise comming from somewhere. I cant afford to fix it and that sucks.

This isn't going to be your daily driver is it? If it is reconsider-get a beater-use the Stang only on nice days. If I didnt have my beater I would be walking to work. And trust me on this one-dont take your car to college. I wish I never did.

You need more money for what you want to do.

This is my daily driver until I get a truck then its going to be just in the summer time and the rest of the time it will be a show car. Well my dad is willing to pour money into the project so he can have a show car so I guess I'll have to see what exactly he wants done and how much $ he is willing to spend. I'll updat when I get more info

So what I'm wondering is if there is any compleat engine out there that is less than 10k. I was thinking about building the engine myself but I'm thinking that will take too long and also I would think that it would be even more than 10k. I was looking at DSS's 347 finished engine so I can just swap them out in a day or two but its a little too much to have a race prep engine right now. Thanks for the help.
