Well I had that explorer engine in the stang for just under a month and was kinda sorta f@#$ing around when I heard that dread metalic clangy noise. Shut the car done and paniced for a minute, then restarted it and the noise was gone but the car lacked power. Drove over to my buddies shop and we pulled the engine and took the engine apart in just under two hours to find that the piston in cylinder 8 was broken in three pieces and had introduced itself to the valves and spark plug. To our amazement, with the piston rings holding the piston together, very little damage was done to the cylinder wall (only needs to be honed).
