My BOI smoked fog lights are crap and need to be replaced. I can do either OEM Cobra fogs or do an Envoy fog light swap. Keep in mind either will be tinted to match the smoked headlights I have. Which fog light setup do you guys prefer? Price isn't an option, will end up to be about the same. Thanks.
Here are some pics of mine as is. If you look, the lights are much smaller and aren't centered in the cutout.

Here are a few pics from people who have done the Envoy swap. As you can see, they are larger and fit the opening much better than the OEM Cobra lights. Supposedly, the Envoy lights are brighter as well.

I have a file I can e-mail anyone interested: it is a detailed write up with pics. If you see my first picture (along with any other stock Cobra), the actual fog light isn't centered in the hole, and it is much smaller. Now, notice the other pics. They have lights off of a 2003 GMC Envoy (not sure if other years are interchangeable). Those lights fill the hole completely, so it gives a better look, and you also get better lighting. The Envoy lights use a 880 bulb, which can be ran off the stock Mustang wiring. The Cobras have a 893 bulb, only difference is the 893 is higher power rating. You have to make your own brackets for the Envoy lights, but it isn't hard, and as said, if you will post or PM me your e-mail, I will be glad to send the link. I just found out about this, but several on the Corral boards have done the swap.

I'd say go with the Envoy lights if you are certain you can fab up the brackets easily to make it work.

If not then I would skip all the hassle and just go with a direct bolt on OEM fog light. Its a noticeable difference over the stock ones when you point it out but I bet that if you don't say anything nobody will ever notice.

The brackets are no problem at all. $5 worth of materials and a few minutes of my time would have them done. As you said, not a big difference. However, it is the little things that count. Some say it looks "buggy", but if not pointed out I don't think you would notice. Also, smoking them will completely change the look imo.

i agree, i really didnt notice the difference until you mentioned it. i could tell something was different but i couldnt tell what. now that you said it though it is an obvious and glaring problem with the stock lights.

however, if the light output of the envoy lights is less than the mustang lights (this is highly doubtful though, even with lower power bulbs. ford lights are garbage to begin with) i would stick with the mustang lights.

The Envoy lights are brighter. My plans right now will be the Envoy lights (if I decide I wanna do it), tint them to match the headlights, get HID's for the fogs, silverstars for the headlights. I just gotta decide if I like the look with the Envoys.

Like I said before I would go with the envoys. they fill up the hole better and once you tint them they won't stand out as much as they do on the cars pictures you posted.

What do you plan on tinting them with (paint or vinyl) I tinted mine with vinyl from stickercity.com and they turned out nice.

Not sure. How to tint them is the only thing keeping me from ordering. I always heard good about VHT NiteShades, but also considering the same stuff you used from stickercity.
