Hey guys,

Check this out: Ford 5.0 V8 crate engine on sale for $6,999

Anyone figure it'd be tough swap to get one of those put in a 99-04 GT?

It would image it bolt in no problem but what about the wiring and computer programing? Those motors are drive by wire.

i seen the new coyote motors already fro sale $6000 was the best price i saw. But... You will also have to add the alternator kit going for $250 and the pcm and wire loom that will run you another $1400. But hey 412rwhp before a power adder is great. This whole kit is a bolt in for 99-2004. all i didnt research is the exhaust it doesnt come with and i dunno if ny 2001 headers will fit. someone else may know? e price of a good turbo or blower on your 2v still wont give you what this package will. Im considering this my self.

What would you do about a tranny? Use the MT82, or substitute? I am rather interested in this, now that I realize the price...of course depending on what the tranny would cost. Anybody know of a price of the MT82, or good substitute?

Since posting this I've done some more research and the other components you need for this swap are headers and mid-pipe. BBK I believe makes a set specifically for this swap. You also have to decide how much you like A/C. Ford Racing sells a kit to mount your hydraulic power steering pump where the A/C pumps goes on the new cars. Either that or get an electric power steering rack or a manual steering rack. In my mind if your doing this to a street car you're gonna want A/C and not manual steering. Anyone know how much an electric power steering rack runs?

I didn't even think of that stuff. Check fordonlineparts.com I am not very mechanically inclined to know what's needed for a/c and power steering. They also have prices there for the MT82. Late Model Resto has the headers and what not.

99-04 engine bay is the same minus a few small things. Asking that question would tell me you should have a shop do this swap if you are considering.

Seems like it would cost way too much at the end. May have $9k-$15k by the time you are said and done.

i think it said you can use your existing tranny. does that sond right? are the bellhousen bolt the same pattern, oh well keep saving and buy a brand new one someday
