new FRPP block anyone?

Yep... I heard about it but have not confirmed it. Supposedly, it's in their new catalog. Rumor is, it's supposed to be good for roughly 700 FWHP. That's about all I know and it's all just "hand me down" info.

Since the proto-types have not even been seen yet I bet we do not see them till the end of 06, and the reported price is in the $1300-$1500 range. I'd still spend a couple hundred more and but a DART.....

Just because prototypes haven't been seen by us, doesn't mean they don't exist...Ford sometimes has their own little version of "skunkworks" that keeps the public eye out pretty well...and if the "reported" price is in the 1300-1500 range, then it will be available cheaper through places such as Jeg's or Summit...the block that someone found on summit for $1732 is the R block...Jeg's sells it for 1699+freight. And while we're on the cheaper kick, I'd feel ok buying one cuz honestly, I don't feel that I need a block that can handle over the thousand hp mark that these blocks are intended for. Honestly, I'm not gonna take it that far. I'm betting that the new Boss block (as it's called) will be good for up to 800...possibly a little more-since the R is good for well over the 1k hp mark. Everyone knows that the weak points in the Ford small block are the mains. This thing still has 4 bolt mains on 2,3, and 4 with splayed nodular caps, and +0.125" overbore capacity, and if it sells for say...$1495 through FRPP, then it'll be less elsewhere

They usually have atleast one out to show off, they did not have one at PRI this year and to my knoweldge no one in the "industry" has seen one yet.

True, it will work good for a lot of combo's, all depends what you want in the future. I think the technology in the DART and WORLD pieces are worth every penny.

oh definitely-the Dart, and WP blocks are undoubtedly worth every penny-I was just saying that I have no tangible ambition of making a 1200hp+ fire-breathing beast-as much fun as I'm sure that would be...but I most certainly don't have the means to make that happen...nor will I anytime in the forseeable future...unless I strike the Texas Mega Millions lotto. I do however have availability and means to create a forced 331 build up that would quite likely make a normal block split...needless to say, that would be a bad thing. I just need something that will support 600-650 at the flywheel reliably, and if that new block is a few hundred cheaper, then it would be worth my time.
