new gas tank installation question

So my old tank had material on top so the tank wasn't hitting the car the new tank is just metal on top . My question is should I put on some insulating tape or something so the tank is not hitting the car (metal to metal ) or don't you think it matters? Thanks

I would put that back on for sure. I put a new one in my Cobra and I put it back. I also bought some 3M spray adhesive so I know it won't shift. You don't want in rubbing, because eventually it may rub a hole in there, plus it will prolly make a lot of noise. My exhaust melted through the plastic shield and it did take the metal of the tank down a little bit too. I was like ohh man I am glad I caught this...

Always pad a rub point. Metal to metal is bad news whether it is gonna be noise or a hole.
