new gears for automatic

where do you recommend that I buy and get the gears installed??? I really don't know anyone who can do the job, so I'm gonna have to have someone professionally do it

Modular Powerhouse is kinda close. there are plenty of good places in the Atlanta area to do gears. Which side of Atlants are you on?

Just drove the Stang to Del State today and I decided to cruise at 65 instead of 70 I think it may do a little better on gas not much but! I got on it out of the hole and Jesus! It pulls hard!!! and then not chirped but f'n Barked second Love these gears hate the loss in Mpg but it's a mustang not a Toyota Prius!lol Get 4.10's in an auto. 3.73's in a Stick!

If I were to gears, it would 3.73's. That's a 5-speed. If it had an auto, it would definitely be 4.10's. My $.02.

I definately agree with that. I've got 3.73's in my mustang and i dont think i'd like it any other way!

4.10's are great in a auto. 4.30's are even better if you don't drive much on the highway.

Prolly one of the best mods to do to an auto. 4.10s and a 93 oct tune will get you in to the 13s in an auto w/ stock tires. Mind you it will only be a 13.8 or 13.9 with a good launch. I got a 13.9 w/ stock tires and those are the only two thing I did to my car.

Why do you run 93% in your car? I always go 83 87 depending on prices

Same here. I just had 3.73's installd last week. I'm still breaking them in but there is quite a noticable gain in power. 4.10's would be funner to drive, but the 3.73's are just right for me. Pearl02.

Gears dont increase power ... I got a set of richmond gears priced for me since apparently they're the only gears any of the speed shops here will order... 500 taxes in shipped to my door. I dont think im down for that though. The handheld tuner thing makes it too expensive for me to do... everything on this damn car needs something else done... its like you ahve to do everything at once (insert angry face)... when winter rolls in and im driving my '88 S10 with the 4.3... ill hook myself up with some christmas presents.

500 dollars for a set of gears ? Why don't you just contact Randy Stinchcomb, order a set of gears from him and find a shop in your area to install them for you ? Do all the shops require you purchase the gears through them ? I'm sure someone will do the gear install for you without you having to buy the gears through them.

I know that gears don't increase power. I think that most people knew what I was saying. The car moves out better with the gear change. It feels like a power increase. Infact, I may have actually lost some power with the gear install. So yes, I do understand about gears and the multiplying effect they have on a car. Pearl02.

If that is the gear price, don't buy. If it's the installed price, sounds good.
