Hey guys,

Just installed new 3.55 frpp gears, took them for a test drive and they howl only on decel. Howling is loudest at 35mph right when I let off the gas, at 70 when I let off its not as loud and higher pitched. When I Installed the gears I took pics of the marker pattern which looked good to me but i'll post it for you guys to check.

Thanx guys

thanx guys, looks like its a backlash issue. I'm gonna open her up today and see if i cant get it more centered, hopefully I dont have to mess with the pinion. The tech data I was using said that it didnt matter if it was on the toe or heel just as long as its not high or low contact on the tooth, kinda though it was a little fishy not to have it perfectly centered

Id check that the carrier shims went back on the correct sides and such. Did you use the same pinion shim that came out? Did you or someone else swap the shim and pinion bearing over. Most times FRPP gears are bang on at re-assy.
How'd you set the pinion preload??
