Hello everyone,

I just bought my first Mustang. I got a dark blue 1998 GT with a cloth interior, Mach 460 stereo and 97,000 miles.

I just bought it yesterday and I am really enjoying it. The only mods I can find so far are a fenderwell cold air kit, Flowmasters and an adjustable Quadrant/ firewall adjuster.

The tires are brand new Kumho Ecsta ast. It has new KYB shocks and struts, sepentine belt, just had the brakes done and was just tuned up.

It's been repainted recently and the paint is pretty good. The front bumper has a scuff that needs to be fixed.

I bought it from an older guy who got it in Las Vegas 3 months ago. He bought it for his daughter but she was afraid to drive it. His wife was making him sell it.

The car runs great but at 97,000 miles it needs a little TLC. I shopped Craigslist in all of the surrounding states and compared to some of the stuff I saw this was an ok deal and I didn't have to travel to get it.

Future plans include:
Leather seats
New carpet
Headers and an X pipe
Black or grey Bullitt wheels
Steeda Triax shifter
Suspension mods
Sound sytem

For the last 10 years I have been into rockcrawling and Toyota trucks. I am tired of going slow and I'm selling my 86 4runner rockcrawler.

Does the car look like it's been lowered? There is not much clearance between the top of the tires and fenders compared to other mustangs I have looked at. I haven't had a chance to get under it and check out the springs yet.

Looks good! You should have a lot of fun with that car.

If it's been lowered, it's not by much but the front does look a hair lower than my '96.

Mine has a nice scuff in almost the same place from an unfortunate incident involving a pole and a 3 point turn in a parking lot

I bet it feels like a turbo-charged Cadillac compared to what you've been driving.

Nice looking car! It definitely looks lower than mine (stock).

Add PI cams and PI Intake to the mod list. Some of the cheapest things you can do to these NPI cars. They can be had for a total of around $200. I'd guess a solid 20-25 hp gain. Or, if you are a little more mechanically inclined and have enough money to do it, do the entire PI headswap. Lots of gains out of that. Search the site for more info. There's lots of it!

Oh, and

Thanks for the welcome.

I have had a couple of late 60's Camaros and a 66 Chevelle SS396 in the past but that was a long time ago. I originally wanted a Fox body coupe but all the ones I found were beat or more than I was willing to spend and I wanted a 4.6 motor.

I am loving the car so far. It's very fun to drive! I have already ordered some missing trim parts from LRS.

My first mod will be full length subframe connectors. I didn't realize you could do the PI cams and intake without the heads but Thats a good idea.

I am joining the local mustang club. I see alot of nice Mustangs running around town. I need to find a shop to install the subframe connectors.

Welcome!!! Nice GT & 1 of my favorite SN95 colors.

Your car is definitely lowered. Stock GT's have a huge wheel gap. Yours looks to be lowered at least 1.5", if not more....

looks lowered, could be on Ford C or B springs which lower about 1 inch.

I love the color, Chrome Bullitts would look great on that car.

looks good man . like others said if you throw a pi top end on that itll give you a few extra ponies, full exhaust will help quite a bit too. also try and find out if you have gears in it, if you dont gears will really help out.

I love that color. You don't see many of them around too.
As for mods, I went with an H pipe instead of the X pipe. I like the sound better. I just bought brand new PI cams for less than 50$ shipped on ebay, but didn't get to install yet. It should add 10-15hp. Similar for the PI intake. After that, a tune would give nice gains to get the AFs back in check and add some timing.

Personally, I wouldn't put bullit wheels on this car. It looks great with the 5 star GT wheels, and these are actually lighter.

Sweet car man, I love that color too. As others have said, your car has obviously been lowered.

I know you didn't ask for mod advice but if it were me forget the carpet seats and wheels for now and start by doing a PI intake swap, gear swap, Stg 2 NPI cams (I believe Modular Headshop is developing some new very impressive cams for the NPI stang), exhaust, subframe connectors, new shocks/struts (if needed) and MM LCA's. With those mods your stang will feel 10x's better than stock.

Thanks again for the welcome! I appreciate all of the advice on mods for the car. You guys have some sweet cars.

I am going to take care of small details first, fix the bumper, fix the bad tint job, replace the blown front speakers and clean it up really well.

Let the mods begin!

I can't seem to leave anything alone for long. I ordered a Steeda Triax shifter and black shift knob combo this morning.

I ordered from American Muscle because they have so much good info on thier website.

My stock shifter is pretty stiff so I am really looking forward to this upgrade.
