New Guy

Hello, just saying hi. I've been at the corral for a while with my 5.0L, but now I'm working on a 2.3 turbo project and someone said that this fourm has better 2.3 info. So I'm here, and might as well check out the other fourms

I'm going to start searching and reading before I start asking questions that have already been answered. But since you're already reading this post, I'll ask one that's on my mind. Are all Garret T3's interchangable? Can I just buy a T3 from ebay regardless of what it came off of and have it bolt to the 2.3 exhaust manifold without major modification.

Thanks, and after I've done my searches, then and only then will I start asking questions..lol

Welcome....I like seeing other V8 people doing the turbo swap.
Most T3's I've seen will work on 2.3's
I don't know that ebay is the best place to buy one though. I've had much better luck selling them on ebay.
Hound your local junk yards and you'll find them. Look for 85-86 TC with 5spds and then alert me where the 5spds are. Also 85.5& up Merkur which is what I'm using.
Most questions you can ask away, but be sure to check webpages of stinger, 140cilx, and GT350R.

I AGREE!!! Look for the 1984 - 88 era of the 2.3T Ford cars and you will find the A/R T3 that you are looking for. I have good luck in the J/Y and some have a calling list when they ger certian cars in or certian parts.

Do us a Favor in your Member portion of the profile fill out the location so some of us closer living guys can give you better tips on where to find things, or helps in shipping calculations.

wow, the email responce thing musn't be working. I didn't get any emails saying anyone replied...lol, glad to see so many welcome's.

About using ebay to get a turbo, in my area I'm sol. Their are no j/y's around here, it's a small town. The nearest is an hour and a half drive, and when I do go there, they have few t-birds and even fewer stangs.

I pick up my turbo block on monday, I'm watching a few turbo's on ebay right now, complete setup's, I'll just have to wait and see what they go for.

I'm being a little different and putting it in a 78 Mustang. It was my first car that I just bought back. I know most people don't like these cars, but I'll tell you what, with a nice set of 5 star mag wheels, candy apple red with metalic flakes paint job, and some tint, these cars look pretty good..

Anyways, thanks for the info.

Oh, one more quickie before I start searching. I intend on this car being a 5-speed, which computer would be better, LA2 or LB2? I'm guess I could search to find that out. I want to get an eec-tuner kit for it and I thoguht someone said that they don't work with the LB series, but I'm most likley wrong.

Thanks again.

*cough cough* pppsss go with the LA3 out of a 87-88'TC cough cough* :D

The T-5 would do you a world of good in any mustang if you ask me :) and the LA3 EEC came in a 5 speed 87-88'TC. This EEC is probly the best EEC to use in my book. This is because they made a bunch of them so there easy to find for a good price, and they use the Big VAM / 35lbs injectors. The PE is probly the best but they run around 200-350.00 which a LA3 run for 50-100.00. The LA2 is not a bad EEC to run either from what I here if you can't find a LA3.

As for the Ebay turbos. If I need something I check Ebay first and so fair have bought a: SVO, Pony wheels, GT tail lights and more. So its not that I have anything against Ebay its that some people sell some half a$$ turbos on there. The kind you pay 500.00 bux for and it blows up on you in less than a year  I would join http://www.TurboFord.org/index.shml and look for a turbo through them guys. Atleast check with them on who sells a decent turbo. There is a guy on there that spams these cheap turbos but I forget his name. If it was me I would check around my town in and out of peoples back yards for a donor car. I had to drive 50 miles for mine so I know it can sux at times.
