hey6 all i jsut got done installing my new mac h-pipe on my gt.
it sounds like there is a leak on the passenger side header to pipe connection but i see not smoke or feel no air. could this just be the sound of the pipe breaking itslef in? do they even do that? thanks

once again those of you on stangnet have failed me again. is it so hard to answer a simple question? i used to be a thirdgen firebird owner, and the people on thirdgen.org where amazing on that message board, always had a helpful answer to all questions, i am on my second stang now, the 5.0 guys where always very helpful when i had my 89 gt. but i have been dissapointed more than once on the 4.6L board here on stangnet. thanks alot

Start your car up and go to where you think the leak is. Take a piece of paper (notebook paper works best). Hold it close to all points around where the header and pipe meet, if there is a leak you will see the paper move where the leak is. Hope this helps good luck.

Before you start slamming all the good folks in the 4.6 forum, look at your original post. It took me 2 or 3 times to figure out what it said. Spend a little more time composing your message and you'll get more answers that way.
When installing a new H-pipe, make sure you tighten the passenger side(solid mount) first, then go to the driver's side. I had absolutely no problem with my MRT H-pipe. You get what you pay for!

yes it did , thin metal one , with raised packing material that fit in a groove on the factory manifold / hpipe connection. should have fell out when you took down the old one or its stuck to the hpipe or manifold .
if the mac came with a metal type gasket sometimes they will leak when cold very very very slightly but seal up once they get hot , if it was a thick paper type it should seal good but will blow out under alot of pressure . change the studs and take the factory gasket to a parts store and match up if yours is blown out already since you probably didnt get it tight enough because of the factory studs , might have to do some trimming to get one to fit good , just make sure it seals all around and bolt holes line up , get a metal one , it will last longer and hold more pressure from blowing out

have you fixed your leak yet ??? smoke is probably just the added condensation in the pipe from sitting overnight . its alot more noticeable with offroad pipes
