I just had my Shaker 500 head unit replaced with a Pioneer 860MP and the sound difference is amazing. I am still using the factory speakers and subs. The key to keeping the subs working with a aftermarket head unit is to get Metra 70-5521 wiring harness. Looking now to upgrade the speakers the factory subs sound fine more than enough bass.
