I am getting a 66 coupe from my brother who bought it but doesn't know how to work on cars.

Anyways, there are a couple problems you may be able to help me with.

First just started. Car starts fine but when going into gear, bucks and spits out some white smoke. Someone told me maybe a head gasket. I have the 200 cid straight 6.

My other problem is once the car gets to about 50, it starts shaking in what feels to be the front driver side. Any idea?

If you know your way around motors, figure out the issue with the smoke. Headgaskets are extremely easy on these 200 inlines! As for the suspension, take it to a reputable shop and let them work it out. I dont trust myself with somethin that my safety relies on as much as suspension lol. Post up pics!!!

White smoke is typical for burning coolant via blown head gasket.

The front shaking could be a lot of things. Ideas: wheel weight missing, hub nut loose, a suspension component coming loose like the control arms, or the alignment is off.

Yeah I've been hearing head gasket a lot so I'll be doing that. Can't be too hard.

as for the vibration issue, since it is speed related, have the tire balanced before you dig into the suspension. also if you are planning to keep the six, check out these sites;

Ford Six Performance Home/Index
Classic Inlines Performance Parts - Home

both sites have lots of good information that will be useful, and the fordsix website also have forums where you can get a lot of good information as well from the members.
