So, Hi all! Name is Ray and I live in Central Florida and I just inherited a Must-ibishi Starion. After Googling a million things and most of my questions being directed to previous posts here on StangNet, I figured it was time to sign up.

So, what I've got (amongst several other non-Mustang related projects) is an '88 Mitsubishi Starion with an HO 5.0 paired up to an AOD tranny. My Father built the car from scratch. He started with a rough shell with a clean title, after many trips to the junkyard, and a fair amount of money and labor ended up with what I have today. He passed away unexpectedly several months ago and left me his pride and joy, so I saw it to be fitting to finish the car as he wanted it like we discussed many many times. Although I am car savy, I'm here to learn as much as I can before I jump into it since Mustangs are new to me.

The motor runs good, but has some minor qwerks that he wasn't able to work out before passing on. It struggles in low end power and is kind of boggy. Around 2800rpm it starts to clear up and has decent mid/high end power for a mostly factory block. It started it's life out as a Mustang GT motor. Fuel injection has obviously been ditched in favor of a carb setup. It is a real mutt when it comes to different parts. I'm actually yet to know exactly what year block it is, or for that matter what accessory pulleys it has, what kind of cam it has (I believe stock FI cam), etc. But that's part of the reason I'm here...to identify some of the parts I have, and to get some advise on what I will need.

His goal was to get the motor in, get it running, and then pull it all out for a full repaint and rebuild of the motor. His ultimate goal was to have this 302 rebuilt to handle a big, crazy, 671 blower sitting on top poking through the hood. I know, I know, It's not practical, it's inefficient, and generally makes too much power for a 302 to handle, but you have to understand the eccentric and oddball kind of guy he was, and then it would make sense. Lol.

Bottom line is, the car's getting rebuilt here eventually and I'm on the hunt for what I will be needing to know about these motors. It will be getting a 671 blower, I just need to know what typically goes underneath that!

Thanks everyone. -Ray
