Just wanted to say hi. Just bought a 96 mustang gt I know it’s the red headed step child year. Car sat for a couple years snapped bolt in the intake. Got it all drilled out and fixed and put together but now the starter isn’t getting power. Going to dig into that soon hopefully after I fix the fuel rail leak anyway enough about the car.

I’m a Diesel mechanic by trade and daily drive a 99 f250 7.3 looking to make my
Mustang my new daily once it’s running.

As a Diesel guy, yer familiar with those electronic injectors as big as my forearm? Did you have to attend much training on Electronic Diesel Injection? Back in Phoenix, my Ford Parts guy showed me an injector, then ('90s) it retailed close to a Grand!

Do you work on turbochargers? BTW, welcome to this place! I'm the new troublemaker here. Ask anyone! imp

I work on big rigs for a fleet company all the injectors are fairly small I do work on turbos I rebuilt the one on my truck and put in a 360* thrust bearing. I attended a trade school and I really learned allot from where I work also. Most of the trucks I work on are internationals from mi 90s-200 some freigjtliners but we mostly run Mack’s with a electronic unit pump injection system that has a nozzle in the head instead of an injector and each nozzle has an electronic unit pump on the side of the block that runs off the cam.

I'm only familiar with Ford's crazy scheme of using engine oil to drive the injector primary pistons using a 2nd. oil pump. Diesel fuel pumped into injector by another pump. I'm stayin' with gasoline EFI!! im

Welcome to stangnet
And 7.3 turbo forever!
I believe it's an IH engine they made for ford, I love mine.
Imp is not a troublemaker, but he will over analyze things.

The HEUI design was a joint venture between International and CAT back in the late 80's and early 90's, that's why you see so many similarities between the two. And @karthief is correct, the 7.3 is an International made engine, it's based off of the T444E.

Gotta love those old turbo 7.3's. I sold my 2001 with over 200K a couple of years ago to buy my 6.7. That 7.3 was the best truck I ever owned, though this 6.7 is starting to rank up there.

And welcome!
