All metal bumpers on cars has been illegal in the US since 1970 I believe. I know that was about when the change was made, could have been a year or two later. Its a crash safety thing. And yes, that piece is completly unconvincing as a metal bumper simulator, and is also completely fugly.
FORD trucks still have steel bumpers to this day and I'm sure some cars do too. I don't see how this statement can be true.

Thanks for the feedback guys!!! both nice and not so nice, just to clarify a couple of things,We are small reproduction shop and in actuality this concept is much closer to production than originally mentioned, and the Ford design team only aborted the plan even as an option only due to time costraints, they were actually about 50%/50% in terms of those who were "for or against", and lastly we realize that our picture is extremely terrible!! which makes it hard to visualize the final product, it is a yellow mustang with grey shading on the bumpers, that were shaded in with my cheap computer mouse with my very steady hand,LOL!!!! The final product will not be a decal(which as you know would look cheap and hideous!) it will actually be a mylar film which is exactly what is used in several vehicle applications, it is more like a thick panel imagine the consistency of (formica) and Ultraviolet and scratch resistant. We will have pics of the mustang prototypes up soon, and while not for everyone maybe a few of the no's will turn to maybe's and with a little bit of luck a few to yes's!!! Thanks Again, and keep the replies coming!!!!!!

Not trying to be nasty here....... only honest
I see 38 deffinetly not and 2 maybe....I think you waste your money...And I see no sales happening here at this site...Not to say "Someone" won't buy it...I've seen some trashy stuff sold to idiots.

You post a poll asking our opinion ...Get only negative feedback..but then tell us, we'll like the actual thing anyway..It's only the picture ?? Not a single person on this board said yes they liked it....That will not likely change.
Tacky is Tacky...no matter how you choose to describe it in technical terms.

If the real thing looks like the one on the caddy then, I think it could work for some folks..... Personally I think the black will look best, but it depends on the car color/personal taste.....

Stavro Mavro

What if you were to run the chrome over the front lip of the front bumper and down to the crease of the marker lamps, instead of just the top...to me it would look more realistic.

Hey and if you do end up doing that, you can send the profits for the R&D over my way!

Lincoln did something close to this on the LS as an option...

I put up some better pics now that this project is further along, this more accurately depicts what the actual product will look like compare to those crappy concept pics i came up with back in 2005. Still think they don't look good???? :) They also come in black and carbon fiber (real carbon fiber)
I did not get a chance to see the originals, but I agreed with the majority of the comments in reference to the new pictures. Sorry... I still think they are ugly. Maybe the hip hop/DUB/pimp-my-auto community would bite. Just my two cents.

It doesn't look complete. If the chrome/plastic piece rolled over the front of the bumper I think it would look better. I doubt I would do it though regardless. Also, I tend to agree with the poster that mention the black and CF will look better then the chrome.

Flatulently revoltingly hideous. You might get some interest from a partially sighted person who needs to find his Mustang in a dark parking lot but really, your poll results present an accurate reflection of the bilious turpitude this sort of addition invokes.

On a blinged up Chrysler 300 - maybe - but on a Mustang, the worst idea since the Mustang II four cylinder. This is only for people who think chrome door mirror covers look good.
