New Intake Plenum -- Worth It???

No, I am saying I don't have the $$ for an accufab anything, there stuff is way expensive (especially since I am saving almost every penny for a house)!

So the best way for me to go with a 70mm TB is with the TrickFlow plenum. About how much are those going for? (There is a C&L Plenum on E-Bay right now for $139 for a 2001+ -- Part number 711A)

well, if you're saving for a house don't get the plenum and TB. If you're going to get a TB and plenum do it right the first time. :flag:

I was researching the very same question...you can go to www.modulardepot.com. They did a side by side on the Dyno. Looks like Accufab is best with almost 8hp gain, but Draggon is not far behind with just over 7hp. Whole test was done with Stock as base line and 70mm TB on all mod Plenums. The Accufab was by far the best for added torque 7+ compared to 4+ witht the dragon. I'm saving my pennies for the Accufab!
With a 75mm the Dragon (and C&L) may do better than the Accufab though. C&L recommends a 75mm tb with their plenum for best results.

ok so the dyno test that was done said the accufab made the most power with 70 tb, so now the question is what do the cl and the dragon make with the 75 tb? what set up makes the most power? according to this post the accufab makes 7 hp/ 7torque, but isn't there a couple of posts floating around here saying that people have gotten 10 to 20 hp from the cl? someone is wrong?

i think that people are saying that the C & L with the 75mm TB makes the most power but i might be mistaken

we'll see after i post up a dyno sheet of the accufab plenum and accufab 70mm TB with tune... so far the best gains i've seen with plenums/tb was the C&L plenum and accufab 75mm TB with tune of 20rwhp+... sounds too good to be true.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't you have to get a dyno tune or something when you change intakes. Doesn't I maek you run too lean or too rich without a tune? Sorry of the dumb question, but I too am considering the C&L but I don't have the cash right now or don't even know where to get a dyno tune.

summit has trick flow plenum for $139

jdsperformance.com has a mac TB for $120

thats the route im going , no sense in spending the extra cash if its not validated by more than 3 to 5 HP , all will give gains so just go cheap when it comes to this .

just an idea

My thoughts exactly, but you may also want to wait and see if C&Ls lower plenum arrives anytime soon, and buy both...

According to the test on modular depot, I would still go with the accufab stuff. Eventhough the price is a bit higher with only 1 hp of peak gain, the accufab plenum gained throughout the entire curve, which I think is as important as the peak (if not more), where other plenums only gained at peak

20 rwhp...yea that does sound a bit high but who knows  hopefully it ends up being true but i'd still be happy with 15 rwhp...

4R70W Automatic, Borla Cat-Back Exhaust, Magnaflow Catted X-Pipe, Steeda Underdrive Pulleys, MAC Cold Air Induction, FRPP 70 mm Throttle Body, 1/2" Intake Spacer, 180* Thermostat, Autolite 764's, B&M Tranny Cooler, PEP Trac Adapt, FRPP 4.10 Gears, SVO Rear Differential Cover, Custom Burned Diablo Chip

So are you guys saying not to get a C&L with the FRPP 70mm TB? I don't have the extra $$$ for a Accufab.

If you have the coin, a torque convertor and a valve body/shift kit will do far better than a plenum.

based one what test? There have been neither results with a dragon w/ 75mm t/b combo or accufab with 75mm
that guy who did the test at modularforddepot or whatever was posting something about if he had a 75mm TB he'd have made more power with the dragon and C & L plenum because supposedly the Accufab was the only plenum optimized for the 70mm TB
