HEY GUYS, I JUST PURCHASED A NEW PCM FOR MY 01 GT. ALL THE NUMBERS ON THE UNIT MATCH SPECIALLY THE ID NUMBER (GIZ2 IN MY CASE). DOES IT NEED TO BE FLASHED OR REPROGRAMMED? APPRECIATE YOUR HELP.
to properly do it yes it must be programmed to the vehicle. you download the data from the old one with teh IDS, and then upload it to the new one. or else you have to go by as-built data with the IDS.
damn... i dont mean to be a pain in the ass and i do appreciate your time and help... i removed the computer already, plus the car isnt driveable even w the computer on. i dont think a ford mech is gonna come to my place so.... what should i do? what is the ids?
i am replacing it cuz its failing to send siignal to cyls 1,2,3 and 7 to fire (cops). i ran all test available (wiring, cops,plugs, etc) per ford maintenance and troubleshooting manual and sends me to problems w the pcm. im going to take the new one to ford ($94 to reprogram) hoping that this will solve my problem.
