I've been seriously remiss in posting here in the last 6 months or so, but I thought I'd drop back in with some new pics of my '70 Mach. It's making very slow progress and still has a ways to go, but it was great to get the car out, go for a ride, and take some pics.

Most of the chassis, suspension, body, and major exterior trim is in place. It certainly still needs some work to finish it up, but it's most of the way there. The biggest issues are the motor, which needs some timing work and some detailing, and the interior needs assembly. I've got the parts, now I just need the time. Sigh...

Anyway, I took a whole bunch of pics, but here are just a few:

Back at home, and proof of my existence:

Where it began:

Sure, it still needs work, but it felt good to get it out and drive it a bit. I'm more determined than ever to see it finished. And to give credit where it's due, my father deserves a ton of credit for the time, effort, energy, and inspiration he's put in the car in my absense at grad school, not to mention the cool junkyard engineered stuff he's done.

...just thought I'd share.

Thanks for the compliments. I spent a long time planning this car out, and I'm pleased with how it's coming out. It's very rewarding.

Oh, and...

Are those late model mach 1 wheels? It looks like something is different with the center caps if it is...
Good eye! They are late model Mach 1 wheels, but the center caps are aftermarket billet aluminum versions that have a similar look to the old original Magnum 500 center. They're made by a place called Kustom Machine... here's a pic:

I put years into deciding the the wheels & tires, and these were my first favorite right after they came out. I got a great deal on 'em locally, which made it an easy decision in the end. The wheels & tires were $250, the centercaps were $80, the spacers were $135, and I even got the Mach1 logo'd valve stem caps for $12, for a grand total of $427. A good Ford number right? I think they really match the spirit and style of the car well, and they're a bit less common than the usual Bullit wheels, Torq Thrusts, Cragars, etc.

I really like the mach 1 wheels too...i just bought a set for my 68 coupe and need center caps for them. i think i might go with those that you have, or do you still have the originals that you might want to sale? do you have a link for them. here is a photchop of my 68 with those wheels...I still have to get the spacers and tires and center caps, i pad $199 on ebay for mine...

I remember that photochop... I didn't do it did I? Gosh, I've done so many over the years for folks, I can't even remember if I've done 'em or not. Funny...

Sounds like you got a good deal on the wheels on eBay. I didn't want to pay shipping, so when this set with tires and only 10K miles on 'em showed up on an ad posted on the late model Mach 1 registry, I was all over 'em. I did get my spacers from an eBay vendor though. They're billet 6061 and came with grade 8 studs and nuts, all for $135 for all 4 shipped to my door. That beats the crap out of all the Mustang parts vendors that want like $250+ for the same thing.

As for the center caps, you can find 'em here: http://www.kustommachine.com/ . There are also spinners available for these wheels from BRS... check here: http://www.brsparts.com/ .

Hope this helps...

Yea I have been looking on ebay for spacers too. I havent found any that cheap yet though, I think about $150 is the cheapest I found on there. I think that is crazy that these vendors want $250 for them. As for the photchop, I actually did this one, but I think maybe you did one for me two-toning the paint on the same pic, with black on top and gold bottom. Thanks for the link on the centercaps, I will look in to those, but did you ever think about selling the original caps that were on yours? I am on a budget and have to see what I can do. As for tires, I plan on going with 255/40 on the rear and 225/45 on the front...
