Spring is here! Now that the streets are a bit cleaner, I decided to clean up the 97GT. She needs a good cleaner wax to remove any bugs and tar, but I'm very impressed with the way she cleaned up. Considering I drive her all year round, even in the snow and ice, she cleaned up very well. I'm very impressed for 11 year old paint on a car with 146k+ miles. Last week, I even had 2 people ask me if I'm willing to sell it. Not a chance I could get what she's really worth to me though.

Thanks guys,

It has a lot of miles, but I think it still has a lot left. It still runs great and the interior is just as nice when clean. The rear end was rebuilt a while back, after eating a pinion bearing.

The only thing that worrys, me... there is a funny sound that is rpm dependent. It's like a loose or wobbling pulley. I pulled the belt off and found one pulley loose. I replaced it and a whine went away, but I still have one sound left and the other pulleys seem fine. Hopefully, just a small accessory related issue.

No, it looks like sun bleached laser red . 1519 autumn oranges were made that year

better angle that shows the orange:

It does kinda look like Sun Bleached Lazer with Orange Town.

I bet in person you can tell the difference a little better.... it looks like Rio Red, Lazer Red, and Vibrate Red combined

I knew a guy at Ft. Lewis Army base that had a GT in that color. Definitely a different color.

If it looks lazer red, adjust the color settings on your monitor till it's more orange.

It's definately an interesting color. When it's dirty, it looks a bit more orange. In the shadow or under clouds, it looks closer to the laser red, and actually looks like a bit of a dark color. In direct sun, it really pops orange where the sun hits it directly and looks dark everywhere else.

I really enjoy it. It's different from the usual mustang, but I always feel like I need about 100 more hp to back up it's looks.

another autumn orange GT

I have an Autumn Orange GT with a 5 speed manual and it is pretty much bone stock and unmolested. It has never seen snow. I put some newer Leather seats from an 02 GT (came with cloth). I have 99K on the clock and it is in excellent condition for the mileage (paint is a 9 out of 10, interior is 10 out of 10). Many have thought it had less than 50k on it until they see the odometer. It is also weird because I have never seen a GT (any color) with manual windows and locks and I own the only I know of. It has cruise and AC and came with just a cassette player. Its equip'd kind of like the 95 GTS or the old foxbody LX's.

See pics at my website www.searsbrothers.com or

I live in northern Ohio and run it occasionally at Thompson or Norwalk.

Thats very odd to see that in an 97 gt? All mustangs 96 and up came standard with auto locks, windows, theft detection and cd players. You must have a VERY VERY rare car or some one swapped the interior from an older 94-95 v6 or GTS.

Well if 1519 were built, they're down to 1518. My best friend had a 97 Autumn Orange 'vert that got stolen and totaled 2 blocks from his house. They hit the rear end of a minivan and rolled it. It was a sad day.

I have always loved that color though. Good looking car.

I have the original window sticker here in my hands - says nothing about power windows or locks. My option list says I have "preferred equip. group 248A" (AC), floor mats, speed control, rear spoiler (didn't know it was an option on a GT) defrosters, AM/FM cassette. I'm wondering if anyone out there has more information on standard and optional features for this year of car.

also the Color code BG (Autumn Orange) was a standard color in 1998 aswell. I almost got one a few years ago. I think I still have a pic of it on my pc. And if in 97 your car came with no power anything. That was option GT 248A... $615, They only made a hand full of that car. On top of that with your color combo you have a super rare car. 1 of 1 maybe. GT 249A was the option that 99.8% gt came with. Also I did get my facts mix, 1998-current are standard on all mustangs.
