So I’m new this whole forum and hopped on here cause Saturday 7/14 I’m going to pick up a 2001 Mustang GT V8 w/ manual.

I’m looking for guidance on the engine as it’s mainelt what I’m concerned with. Is it a good engine to start with? My goal is 1,000-1,200 horsepower show car.

Am I crazy or is this achievable with existing block? Will the heads support it with modification or should I be looking for different heads?

I am mechanically inclined just never rebuilt or modified a car engine. I have done duramax diesels, Aircraft and farm equipment.

You are aware that the drivetrain and suspension will have to be upgraded as well. What is your budget, that is a :poo:load of HP you are wanting and it won't be cheap. For that kind of HP I think you would be better off to start with an entirely new engine built for that HP. A roller would have been a better start off.
