New radiator overflow questions

Good morning all,

I am replacing the POS stock rad with 19x31 performance next weekend. I have a question on overflow bottle.

1. Can I re-use original.
2. If not does anyone have replacment.
3. Distilled water, anti-freeze and water wetter, is this the refered
concoktion(sp).

Any other bits of info / advice would be appreciated.

I installed a fluidyne radiator (aluminum) and it recommends distilled water and antifreeze. I do not use water wetter since I have the TwEECer and can adjust when the fan comes. If the radiator is aluminum use distilled water. Oh and I reused my stock overflow tube.

why is distilled water a big deal? I have tap water and antifreeze.

The impurities that are in tapwater (minerals) will leave a buildup in your radiator and will be flowing throughout your cooling system.

Thanks for the responses, DI water it is. The jury is still out on water wetter, if anyone has opinions feel free to give your 2 cents.
About overflow, I was talking about the stock overflow plastic can. The new radiator is about 4" thick and comes fairly close to the water pump. It is not in but have seen some pics of cars with bigger radiator and I do not remember seeing can. Just wondering if relocation of can is required or I just am not remembering the can.

So if it's a summer only car, and i drain it after every fall, i should be fine, right? Maybe take a little extra to flush it out? If i were to leave it in, i'd just buy the premix i guess, but for the summer driving, I'm thinking i'm ok. Well, have been so far...

Since you are in FL, you do NOT need more concentrated than a 50/50 mix. The next time I clean the radiator, Im just going with 30% antifreeze and 70 % water.

I believe so, if not, it's some other liquid that makes it about a 50/50 mix. I think here in chicago i've even seen some places that have a 75/25 mix for the winter. Either way, it's not going to be as bad as my tap water, lol.

Finally,

It took all week with 2 golf days and 4 sets of kids running amock.
Generic 31x19 raidator went in with minimal fab work, attached elect. fan with push pins and metal brackets.
Overflow can installed right next to hood latch.
Tans cooler was easier and looks good in upper corner of drivers side in front of a/c condensor.
Water pump was snap, I think difference is nose length, serpentine looks considerably shorter than pre 94 ones.
50/50 pre mix is made for use with aluminum radiators, minimizes corrosion, or so they say.

I can't wait for summer to get here to test cooling system.

i picked a plastic overflow tank from the local advanced auto parts. i,m sure that others carry them as well. i placed it in front of the radiator as well as the whole wiring harness and got rid of the huge bracket they stayed on to clean up the front of the engine bay.

Where did u re-mount the ccrm?

i just cleaned up my front area as well, mounted the ccrm in the lower fender well, pretty much right next to the fog light. that worked out good because i had just enough harness to reach the fan, and i dumped the stock overflow tank and associated bracketry. i got the moroso plastic overflow from summit for like $22 and basically just used a big hose clamp to secure it to the radiator support. cleaned up real nice, next to go is that hideous abs module/pump.

So u have to extend each wire in the wire loom for the ccrm? Thats a LOT of lines

It has felt like summer here all week in S Fl....we dont ever need to wait to test cooling upgrades!!

You have more than enough to move the ccrm. Then route your fan lines around behind the headlight and then behind the overflow, then to the fan. It keeps it clean and you don't see any of the fan wiring. Then you can cut the braket so you don't see it under the plastic radiator cover. Heres a few pics.
