Need some advice here. 03 gt coupe. The rear shocks are wore out on my car. If I was to replace ONLY the rear shocks with some tokico premiums or similar shocks, would it completely throw off the handling of the car? Make it extremely tight or loose? I would kind of think it would make it loose. The reason the shocks are dead at 33K is because I do allot of driver's ed courses at tracks in the area, mid-Ohio, beaver run, nelson ledges, etc. Suspension wise the car is completely stock and at stock weight.

I'm knocking around just dropping the car 1.25” with new shocks / struts on all 4 corners since it’s not that hard to do, but I think I might sell it to go for an 03/04 cobra, don't know yet. However in the mean time I have to improve the handling. Pics below are from beaver run in penn. last year, you can see the body roll.
thanks,
bads

stock mustangs roll like that, their not handling cars out of the box, if you're thinking on selling your car just pic up some decent auto store shocks like monroe or gabriel for the rear

i have a feeling that if the fronts are worn as bad as the back then its just going to turn into a plowing machine... i know w/ springs that the stiffer end breaks traction first.

Something worth considering is FRPP P/N FMS-M-5400-A which is an entire kit w/shocks, springs and anti-sway bars. The kit will drop the front and rear 1" and the whole entire kit is $395 from Summit Racing. You can replace your shocks AND springs AND sway bars with better than stock units.

Like your gt , my rear shocks were wasted but the struts
up front were fine. I installed a pair of KYB non adjustables and left the stock struts on the front for a couple of months, no problems. I did go ahead and put
KYB struts on the front and like the over all set up a lot
more than the originals. The KYB,s are the best inexpensive type shocks and struts IMO

I would not do just 2 unless you are dead broke. the car will handle better with all 4.

springs, shocks, subframes, lCA should be manditory on these cars if you like to corner at all.

I don't know why you want better handling IF you're thinking on selling the car

cheap but effective route would be to add that kit, plus Pro3i street/strip LCA's and some MM full length subframes

The bullit kit that edbo was talking about the m-5400 did not drop my car a whole Inch, only about 1/2 to max 3/4.
