New Rear?

I just got new rims and tires for my baby, i am putting on 315/17's in the rear. So far as suspension goes for the rear, I have onle done shocks, quad shocks, dropped it, and subframe connectors. My question is, do you guys think i will need a new rear soon as i put on my drag radials?

If peace of mind means anything to you...upgrade that sucker! Mine lasted 3, well 2 passes on DR's....basically luck of the draw. Some people have no problems at all...others like myself don't last an hour at the track. And is really sucks having to be helped off the starting line!

I had about ten 3-4000 rpm launches with my 4.10's and nittos and around another ten with 3.73's. The only problems i had were the mechanic forgetting to put loc tite on the ring bolts and having them back out, eventually getting spun throught the gears. After that I put in a new ring and pinion, and checked all bearings. Two weeks later it whined like crazy, so i pulled it apart again and a piece of shrapnel that I must have missed when cleaning the housing gooned up a bearing. Now it's back together and I'm back to the strip tomorrow.
Sorry that got a little OT...point of story: Mine has held up other than the mechanic forgetting the loc tite.

damn..maybe I shouldn't have spent the $$ on some nittos and weldlites if I knew I was only good for maybe 3 harsh launches. I have an Auburn Pro differential with the stock 28 spline axles, will I fair any better than with a stock rear end?

hmm..i was thinking i need drag radials now that i got 4.10's and have absolutely no traction with the stock goodyears(car is otherwise bone stock).

So, if i got nitto drag radials, i would break something in the rear end? Or are you guys talking about slicks? If the drag radials were just 245's, to go on the stock rims, and not something crazy like 315's, would i still be likely to break something?

What kind of tire would give me alot more traction than the crappy stock goodyears, but not have to worry about breaking something because there's too much traction?

It's the luck of the draw. Some run on slicks and stock rear for many, many passes and some break their rear 3 launches on DR's. There's nothing to say your not gonna break your rear or tranny for that matter without the proper mods. If your reading this and are concerned, spend the $1K and build your rear.

build your rear meaning?...Will I need more than just the Auburn Pro?
