New setup, what do you think

well guys, should have my new setup running here in the next week or two. it will be:

TFS twisted wedge heads w/.600 lift springs
TFS 6.700 Pushrods
TFS 1.7 Roller Rockers
Gt-40 intake and tmoss ported lower, upper runners cleaned up a little
pro-m 75mm maf
24# injectors
Walbro 255lph pump
King Cobra Clutch Kit
BBK ceramic coated 1 5/8" longtubes
O/R X-pipe

i think that is about it other than what i already have:

Aluminum driveshaft
Pro 5.0 shifter
Mac catback
CAI
Pullies
3.55's

I want to keep the stock cam for now, that's why i got the 1.7's. i'm looking forward to seeing how it runs and what it puts down. one question i do have is, will my radiator be able to handle this fine. its not a stock radiator but its not a fluidyne or anything. what do you guys think about that, and any number guesses just for ****s?
 
Well i would say with the right cam you would be at around 300rwhp give or take a few ponies. But with that stock cam, im not educated enough to say how much it will hurt performance. I know it wont make optimal power though...althought it will have no driving problems.

No way in hell to tell u how that radiator will do without knowing specs on it. Size, brand, etc etc etc.

Why the stock cam? Are u planning on going turbo or something? Spending all that cash and such, i dont see why u would cut yourself short when a aftermarket cam can get good driveability and make the necessary power.
 
That's extremely close to the setup going into my car, except I'll have a TFS stage 1 cam. The guy I bought the motor from had it in a fox body for 1k miles, and had it dynoed at 309rwhp.
 
i didnt do the cam mostly because this is my daily driver, i know a tune will not be in my budget for a while after all the money i spent. and i dont want to be driving around all winter with my car dying at stoplights and bucking and all the **** that might not happen, but could be a posibility. believe me i would be the first person to tell you that i want a cam too, just not logical for me at this point. when the time comes for a cam, i'll do a custum cam to compensate for the rockers probably. but that would be a spring, maybe summer project. i also think people unestimate the stock gt cam. hell, tmoss made just over 280rwhp with gt40-p heads, cobra intake ported by himself, stock cam, and 1.7's. as long as i am somewhere in the 270+/- range i'll be pretty damn satisfied.
 
well i got another question. if i get done with the motor, can i run it without the 255 pump in there? i wouldnt be getting on it or anything, just to drive it around town a little to make sure everything is running right and maybe if i have to drive it as a last resort or something, until i have time to get the pump put in there?

Uhmmm. I remember I said the same thing after rebuilding my motor that I will granny it for the first 1K miles blah, blah, blah. Well after about 300 miles and feeling how much stronger she felt I said "hell with this"...well you know what happend - I drove it like I stole it.

In my opinion, and that's all it is, when you began projects like this I think you should have all of the major pieces of the puzzle as part of the plan and ready to be installed all at once, if possible, especially if it's a daily driver - less down time. Other words I think that all supporting parts should procured and installed all at once even if you have to wait a little bit longer. See my name above that's how I approach all of my projects. Now that my car is no longer a daily driver, I am even more patient with upgrades. Just One Man's Opinion. Peace and have fun (you will as soon as you get it back) - I sure am.

Oh if you haven't already done so purchase the repair manual. While search I found a post that provided a website where you can download the repair manual to your computer. I don't have the website's name with me - it's at work. I'll try and remember to post it tomorrow.

thanks, i'd apreciate that. i have all the parts ready to start doing this. i just thought that once i got the motor done, if i HAVE to drive it before i put the pump in, i wanted to make sure that at 1k-3k rpms wouldnt be out of the stock fuel pumps potential. i have another car, but just in case i had to drive it i dont want to blow my **** up.

I'm still driving around on a stock pump. :bang: FWIW, a stage 1 cam will clear with 1.7's just fine, somebody was wondering about that.

Without an aftermarket cam, I'd say between 270 and 280 tuned. A cam will work WONDERS with those heads, but I feel ya on the tune right now.

Your radiator should be fine. I'm still running the stock radiator as well. :bang: :bang: I never see above 210*.

good to hear. do you get on it very much with the stock pump, any idea what the stock pump is good for (hp)?

Yea I run it fairly hard every day. I don't think the stock pump can be summed up in an amount of HP. Just get a good temp gauge (if you don't already have one) and always keep an eye on your temps.
