Picked em up today off craigs list. Gotta start my five lug conversion and then find some for the rear! (among other things.)

I had to pay $300 for the two wheels and tires. I haven't been able to find the wheels themselves that cheap new...the pic sucks, but they look like new. tires still have the tits on em.

all depends on where you look my friend
JEGS Performance Products 67001 JEGS Sport Lite Cast Aluminum Wheels

I'm sure you could get two brand new 600 x 15's or 560 x 15's for under 50.00 ea. You should ck the other prices out, they have 15 x 8's for under 130.00 ea
Granted, they don't say weld on them, but if it walks like a duck, and talks like a duck......

theres definitely a difference between the jegs wheels and weld wheels. I have both sets.
FWIW, I paid $200 for this set of 15x 3.5 and 15x8 Weld Draglites.

In this case, if it walks like a duck and talks like a duck, it probably weighs 3 times as much as a duck.

Well there is definately a weight difference.... 3 whole lbs! (not exactly 3 times the weight of the Weld)

lets see, the price of the identical Weld wheel is 160.00.... or 60.00 more than the Jegs wheel....$20.00 per lb. multiply that times 4...12 more lbs added to the rolling weight of the car(over the welds) .... 12lbs x $20.00= 240.00 Saved.

What will 12 lbs save you in the quarter?.......JACK!
What can you do w/ an extra $240.00?....Hmmmmmmmm
Honestly, I've had this conversation a few times before..the "lift test comparison" really doesn't "hold any weight" I don't know about your finances, but 240.00 is nothing to let lay on the floor. Obviously, do what you want to do,...Tonight is my turn to offer my .02 worth.

BTW The 15 x 8's are the Same Jegs wheel.

I hate how the 15x4's look, they dont look like real skinnies. The 1/2 inch may not seem like much but I can always tell the difference.

Touche! mad mike for the score!

You're right, the thing is, when I'm doing over 140mph I'd rather have cold forged wheels made in KC than cast wheels made in Bejing, or anywhere, for that matter.

never seen a wheel failure before but with my luck, it would happen.

Well they say every 10 lbs of rotational mass is about equal to 100 lbs of unsprung weight, so at some level it WILL make a difference.

Not to mention the fact that those knockoff summit/jegs wheels look like chit to me, the lug nuts dont look right and they really make the car look cheap.

they dont look the same at all...

nothing against the jegs wheels, but there IS a difference and IMO its quite a big one.

You get what you pay for.

And id love to sell them to ya but i sold them a few months ago for $400 so it was too good to pass up.

That's cool, mike. You look to me like you're a man who knows what's up by your fantastic cars you've had. (and have) The stuff I posted in your build thread was mostly for some of our younger guys on tire size and what not. Sorry to have littered up your thread like that. Always welcome someone else's .02!

Hey no problem,...when faced with a choice on which way to go, I have always been one to take the high road. Not knowing your age, and finances, I was just offering a choice that looked similar for less. Back in the "olden days" I was one of the first guys at 21 years to have Centerline auto drags on my 69 mustang (when they were the "must have" wheel). That choice for cool factor status ended up costing me more than I had, but I managed. ( just didn't eat)
Can't say what I would've done had there been a cheaper copy back then though.

No worries about the tire lecture. It also reminded me of the "Really olden days".
I used the advice just like I did during the lectures in Western Civilization class.........to catch up on my sleep.
