New times, im aggravated

I ran 10 times and pulled a 15.3(started in 3rd with a 3.2 60' ), 2 14.4's, 2 14.3's and 5 14.2's.It was about 80 degres and kinda humid. Last time is was a tad colder and i pulled a 14.0 BUT my timing was at 7*, i didnt have subframes/shifter/alighnment. MPH went up but so did my 60'. Im mostly aggravated cause my freind's integra ran a 14.3 w/ 75 shot of N2o and my other freind did his personal best with a 15.6(another integra). Heres my best slip tonite.

60'........2.117
330'.......6.026
1/8........9.211
MPH.......78.08
1000......11.943
1/4........14.232
MPH.......98,83 (on one of my 14.3's i had a 99.19 mph)

My mods were: Nitto Dr's,3.73s, Underdrives, Cobra intake manifold, HD CAI, timing at 13, subframes, ebach pro, 23# tire pressure,1/3 tank of gas, some weight reduction.

My shift points varied from time to time, trying to find the best. On the way home i practiced trying to find shift points and i found that my car pulled straight to 6k so im gonna shift a lil higher next time. My other freind with a 96 gt with CAI,catback/xpipe and 373s was running 14.3s also with a lot lower 60ft but i got way more stuff then him and im only a tenth faster. Any tips or tricks for next time? Im going to the track every night there open until i get into 13's.

you need to lower your tire pressure IMO, I've had nittos and they always worked best for me below the 16-17# range. I would start from 17 and work your way down don't go past 14 #'s. If they are brands new nittos give them a good burnout the first time and then you don't have to do such an extensive burnout. I burned until the first sign of smoke. Also you would be in the 13's very easily with a good exhaust system. You bought a cobra intake so you opened up the intake side but the stock exhaust is very restrictive especially with 4 cats. What are your 60' 's on your 14.3 and 14.4 runs? If it was above 2.2 or even 2.3 I would give some of that credit to tire pressure. Since are times are very similiar, I found that 3000rpms was a good launch point for my car with the dr. I don't have gears though so you might have to slip the clutch a little bit. With your mods 6k as a shifting point is way to high. I would shift at 5200 to 5400.. But that is just me. hope this helps a little.

My advice.........shift at 5500 rpm and work on that 60'

My convertable ran a 9.0 @78 2.0 60' with 3.73s, U/D pullies, Drag radials and C springs. EDIT: I forgot I had headers and H pipe.

I shift around 5200, but since you have a cobra intake, you probably get another 300rpm out of it.

On the launch, I bring the revs up a little off idle and then dump the clutch and floor it. That might not be the most consitent way to do it, but you'll get lucky one time and it'll stick and go...

I'm not too sure about tire pressure in the drag radials, everyone has their own opinion on what works.

oh yeah i forgot to mention i have an o/r x-pipe and flomaster catback. next time i go i will drop the pressure below 20. im big time hungry for power now since my freind is so close to my times with a 4 banger. i think instead of heads and cam im going to find a used blower and work with that.

You definitely need to lower the tire pressure at least 6 psi, and maybe lower. Nittos need a lot of heat, so I would do a nice burnout. Don't shift over 6k. Your only going to kill your time. Anywhere between 5600-5800 is going to be optimum with your set up. Try 5800 on the 1-2, and 5700 for the rest. You have the MPH to be in the 13.8 range. Good luck.
