I've had only Fox bodies, just got a 05 GT. It has from what I can tell cold air intake, BBK headers, Cat back exhaust, and magnaflow muffs. I ran a 14.1 at 99mph with a 2.1 60'. this doesnt sound right. Is the tune as big of a deal as it seems?. I also was able to go through the traps in 3rd gear at about 6200 rpms, so i dont think it has gears but i took a trip this weekend and it seemed that the speedometer was off. i was going75 and people were passing me like i was going 65. if it has a gear, how can i tell, and what can be done to fix the speedometer if it does. THANKS

unlike the older mustangs, these are all controlled by the computer. If it has an intake the car most likely has some kind of aftermarket tune. most intakes require it. If the speedo is off due to a gear change it is also fix with a programmer. As far as the 14.1, these cars have the ablility to run 13's in stock trim. It might be you need to get it tuned, really can't say what the issue is. either way a good tune is very important imo, you will get the best gains for money spent on a good tune in these cars.

I am sure some of the guys that know alot more than me will post shortly. i am a novice just sharing what i understand to be true

you should ba trappin several MPH higher than that. what kind of CAI is installed on the car?

shorty headers or long tubes? shorties dont add much power, so dont expect a big gain there. mufflers on these cars are for sound since the factory mufflers are not a big restriction. again, dont expect much power from mufflers.

the tune IS as big of a deal as it seems. a tune should be the first thing you do to the car. throttle response is greatly improved, and it adds a ton of power.

I don't think the BBK cold air kit requires a tune? maybe someone can correct me if I'm wrong. A tune is def. an important mod and would make sure you get one...you should def be quicker than that especially your mph if the car has a tune. I was running 14.1 @ 98mph with a bone stock auto. The tune/cold air kit with a catted x changed it to 13.3 with 104 +mph trap.
