Hey Gang, I am new to the forum but not the Stang - I owned a '98 and am real excited to get my '05 GT. I just recently put in an order for a black GT with all the fixings, but my dealer told me when I ordered there is some sort of delay on ordering any mustang with standard transmission - something about quality control, etc. Has anyone encountered anything like this? I have only seend automatics on the lot, but find it hard to believe they havent made a stick shift yet.

Also, if you order a car on X-plan, does it take longer for your order to be processed rather than a typical "retail" order? Thanks for the responses, and I look forward to keeping up with all you guys and this amazing car!

You dealer is either confused or is BSing you.

Production of the V6 MTX does not start until January. It was originally planned for Nov. but was delayed. I'd guess the reason is that Ford is overloaded with Mustang orders.

There is NO delay in the GT MTX. A number of people already have them.

As far as X plan taking longer, I think Ford gives them the same priority, but your dealer can assign different priority to his orders. So he could put your X plan order in at a low priority and put in other higher profit sales in his high priority slots.

That's what I thought - I am going to make sure I get a high priority, but no matter what the dealer is telling me, I think once I get into the system it would be out of their hands - I mean if they dont know their a$$ from eyeballs, at least Ford will, and my order will be in. Anyone have any expected wait times for a new order?

First of all I have X-Plan. I called my dealer on October 20 and placed my order over the phone (05 Mustang GT Premium, Automatic, Sonic Blue/Light Graphite, IUP, Side Airbags, AntiTheft and Wheel Locks). The dealer called me the next day and told me the order had been submitted to Ford and I should have the car in six weeks.

Yes, the dealers have been told so and a AAI worker confirmed it on Brad's site.
