How is it going? Im new to the forum, iv'e been into muscle cars my whole life, particularly the foxbody.
I have owned 3 vehicles, my first was a 1985 GMC Sierra Classic 4x4 lifted on 38's, and after 4 years of owning that i decided i was looking for something new, so being hasty, traded that beautiful truck for a 1986 Nissan d21 pickup 4x4 5 speed. Which got great gas mileage and was fun because of the 5 speed, but ended up turning that into my toy. So now im at the point in my life where im about to buy a used foxbody for a dd, and im looking at this 1990 mustang lx 5 speed. And this is where my question begins, i talked the guy down to $3250, and honestly it's a nice car, interior/carpet is all clean, could use a paint job, but it's still a 20 footer. and the only thing that i find kind of sketchy is that the guy who is selling it didnt do the work to it, so im unnaware of the condition and mileage of the motor, but i did let it idle for about 5 minutes, shut it off, cranked right back up no preoblems, drove it down the road and back, and the clutch felt good, all 5 gears shifted smoothly and really drove nice. But the motor has a cobra upper and lower intake manifold, cold air intake, e303 cam, 24lb injectors and i think thats it. but here is a the ad on craigslist. and i guess my main question is if ya'll think i would be doing wrong to buy this car for 3250 as a dd?http://bham.craigslist.org/cto/3349490266.html

yeah 2500 is about all that car is worth. you are going to easily spend another couple of grand getting that car finished assuming there are no hidden issues. Rust would be my biggest concern. Crawl underneath the car and check the torque boxes, the spare tire well, floor pans and frame rails.

Ok, i will be sure to do that. When i went and took a look at it, i didnt see any rust at first glance, but i will crawl underneath and check out the rust issues, which i dont believe there will be any. The only thing wrong with the car is of course the natorious gas gauge and passenger side door handle, which both of those can be fixed for cheap. and i like the stance of the car, and it's impossible to tell how the previous owners treated it, but looks as well as feels like it wasnt molested. the odometer works, reads 78,568. but that could be 176,568, 278,568 ect ect.. But the interior, all gauges work besides the fuel, all lights work, carpet is new. looks nice. inside and out, it felt really tight and solid when i drove it. and even unknowing of the mileage and condition of the motor, it ran top notch, no exhaust leaks, valve chatter, pings or anything just idled perfect and drove perfect and tight. i think honestly that it would have alot of life left in it, the way it sits, and if not then i have tools and resources to do just about anything.

I will be honest. I've only had like 3 mechanical issues with a fox. Electrical and body issues...I could be here all night. If you think you can negotiate a price you are happy with jump on it. With some paint or at least a decent cut and buff that car would look a whole lot better.
