New To Site. Just got another Stang, Help!!

I just bought a 2000 Gt, 64k miles on it. It is the bright red (looks orange in some light) and i think its called torch red but not sure. It has 18" Saleen wheels (which im having a hard time finding the proper size tire for). It has the Eibach sportsline lowering springs with stock shocks and struts (need replaced i think). It sits lower in the front (Ughh) and scrapes the underside on the smallest speed bumps. I cant get into my garage without hitting the underside b/c of my steep driveway. It has Accufab plenum with BBK cold air intake, underdrive pulleys, headers with cat back exhaust. It has 4.10 gears (i think) with short shifter, white face gauges and some billet interior items.

I have ordered new headlights, Mach 1 grille delete and new 3rd brake light. Have new brakes and rotors ready to be installed. Im looking to replace the tires (thinking about Nitto555s) and the suspension (thinking about Ford Racing or the Bullitt suspension kit to get it set up properly and raise it a little). I like how it looks lowered, but think its not sitting right.

I need a black leather rear seat. I plan on installing some stereo mods to. Since the 1st owner took all the Mach stereo stuff out, it sounds horrible. Eventually I would like to add a supercharger. Not sure what else I need at this point.

I'm in Maryland. Anyone have any suggestions for the tires, suspension, rear seat and how to make it faster???

Nice car

I am biased I suppose, its exactly what I have. The color is performance red. Artificial light makes it look orange. Bright sunlight and its red.

Suspension: It would be helpfull to know your goals with this. The bullitt is a decent upgrade for a all around package, but there is far better out there. IMO, I'd go with bilstein's whatever you do, but they are expensive.

Tires: I've had nothing but good experiences with all the BFG tires I've had. Went through one set of KDW's (lasted approx 40k). These were the first gen ones. I'm now using the KDWS's. Far better in the winter. Both have had great dry traction, with the upper hand to the KDW's. Both are excellent in the rain.

Rear seat: Most take this out. It's pretty pointless for the passengers. If you do insist on keeping it however, check out car-part.com. It's basically a search engine for junk yards. I found my Mach 1 front seats locally on that side, and got them in excellent condition for a decent price.

Going faster: Depends on what you want. I want all motor power, so trying to get a 5.4 swap together. It's not too popular around these boards, everyone here has a hard on for blowers. Cant really go wrong with any blower if you match it right. Kenne bell is good, and pricey. The MPH mongoose kit is solid and reliable as hell, decent price. Tork Tech is the new kid on the block, and one of the cheaper kits out there that I have seen and comes with alot of stuff the others dont.

Oh, and a couple cheap tips to freshen your 00' up a bit;
-Move the spoiler back. It's free, and looks 100x better.
-Mach 1 chin spoiler. Around $100, looks much better.
-Mach 1 grille delete. Really cleans up the front end.
-01+ headlights. Also looks 100x better.

Thanks for the info and advise. It is sitting lower in the rear so Im not sure if i just need to replace the shocks and struts since it already has the Eibach sportsline lowering springs. I just want the back to lift up and sit a little above the front or at least level. It rides pretty ruff to, but i guess that is to be expected. I like the back seat in b/c i have two sons who like to ride in it. This is my toy car and wont get driven in the winter. I have a black 07' Chevy Tahoe on 22's for everyday driving.

Sorry, I should have noted that the eibach sportlines are famous for "sagging" in the rear. Many others have had this problem. Shocks/Struts will not fix this.

I would suggest going with a Pro Kit since you have a clearance issue, the Sportlines are pretty extreme and slam the suspension. The Sportlines can really screw up your suspension geometry without CC plates, Steeda balljoints and bumpsteer kits.

I would suggest going with the Pro Kit and something like Tokico HP shocks, they give a great ride and can handle a stiff spring rate if you keep the Sportlines.

And I think I'm going to be moving my spoiler back this weekend to see how it looks, so I will post up pictures with the results once I get some free time...

Nice car man, check to see if you have the plastic crossover intake or aluminum. If it's plastic, consider swapping it for the aluminum crossover intake that came on later years because the plastic one is a ticking time bomb

Thanks again. Glad u told me about the sportsline sagging problem, I started thinking I could get away with swapping shocks and struts. I think I do have the plastic intake. Hope to get some more pics up by this weekend.Go figure my cousin would buy a dark blue 00 GTwith a 01 cobra motor I. It. We had a short race and his seemed a good bit faster but I couldn't stop spinni g to take off. Got some work to do..

Unbolt the spoiler, drill 4 or 6 holes depending on how far you will move it back and reinstall.

Suspension Kits??????????????

I need springs, shocks and struts.

I have been looking on internet...Im looking at the following sets:
- Ford Racing Bullitt Suspension Kit on Late Model Restoration $499.99
- Ford Racing M-5400-A Handling Kit on Summit Racing $499.95

Or should I go with Eibach Pro Kit and match it with some shocks/struts?
Or Steeda has a couple also.

I would like to get the whole kit that lowers it some and keeps the ride decent without spending a ton. Somewhere in the middle.

I had this kit on my old car, it was a nice bargain and the ride/handling was pretty solid. Plus it didn't low the car enough to cause any problems, which is what i wanted.

BlownStangGT, sorry but im not sure which headers are on it. The guy I bought from lives near me and has had it for 3 yrs ut it sat in his garage mostly. Not sure where the 1st owner was from.
