Is there anything that needs to be modified to the chassis or is it a pretty straight foward proceedure? Also, any tips and suggestions would be great!:thumb: Also, Does anyone know if there is a site with pics that explains the process better? I have the instructions, but they are not that helpful. Well thanks in advance! BTW, almost forgot, I have a 91 Manual LX, and a 93 automatic Taurus SHO.

installing a Kmember is going to be a Huge Job, the coil overs are pretty straight forward though. Practially everything in the front will have to be removed for the Kmember install including engine. You shouldnt have to modify anything though, it should bolt in where the other one bolts in I suppose though you could weld it in if you wanted to make it more solid. DO you plan to use this car on the street? Some of the Kmember kits are race only due to the suspension design that isnt suitable for the street.

Im not positive on the requirements for your specific K-member, but most require aftermarket control arms.
Your coil over kit also requires a certain type of strut, also requires the 4cyl strut to be moved in on the arm some (which aftermarket control arms do i believe).

Lastly i think a set of castercamber plates seal the deal, as when you move the strut pitch in, the angle loads the tower to much for stock equipment. That is just me thinking outloud though, there are a few people here that can give you the fine details.
 
if you can get to a lift, its a very simple swap considering what your actually doing. you can raise the car, after disconecting everything that connects the engine to the chassis (fuel lines, electrical conections ect) as well as disconecting the steering shaft and the brake lines, unbolt the k-member and drop the entire engine and suspension right out the bottom of the car. very sneaky.......
 
I'm pretty sure the QA1 coil overs require the QA1 struts. The struts are threaded instead of a threaded sleeve which slips over the strut (much more common). You will definatly want a descent 4 bolt CC plate. The mustang chassis wasn't meant to have the entire load of the vehicle placed on the strut towers! Even with some of the nicer 3 bolt kits, you can crack the strut towers with much hard driving.
 
There aren't any 4-bolt Fox CC plates, as far as I know. That's just an SN95 thing. Get a good solid set of caster/camber plates, such as Maximum Motorsports, because they will be bearing the weight of the entire front end of the car. You will tear the tops of your strut towers right out if you don't have CC plates.

I know steeda makes a 4 bolt plate, and I could have sworn MM's standard fox plate was 4 bolt. Either way, go with a high quality plate. MM makes a great product at a price competitive with the lesser companies.
 
Thank you for the welcome! And thank you for the info! I have owned her now for over ten years, I have massed enough parts to do the front end, BTW it is a QA1 front end kit( the CC, bumpsteer, coil overs and struts, K member, tubular control arms with heim joints) I have new lines( high pressure and return) and a new rack for the front end, all I need is a new power steering pump( any suggestions on the best and cheapest place for this part?) I have a set of long tube headers ( pace setter from RacerWalsh) that I will be putting on as well. For the back I have mac upper and lower control arms, waiting for the money to buy some lowering springs and some spherical bearings. I also need a rear swaybar and tpr bushings and some quad shock mounts, then the suspension will be able to chill till everything else is up to par.

I don't know if you guys do alot of write ups here. Does anyone here do write ups on their different projects? The reason I ask is that the 2.3L is kinda like the performance of the SHO, there is a huge potential, but information is limited. I have seen the cold-air project. I will take pictures of the process and do a write up on it so that anyone else that wants to do this in the future will have a guide.
 
u wont need to pull the motor just set the car up level on jackstands and attach an engine hoist to the engine to support it then just dissemble the suspension and bolt in the new set up done it before oh and just to be safe dont actually get under the engine just in case:) good luck and have fun:):):)
