Hey guys just took my stang to the track for the first time since the rebuild....it has a 347 stroker with afr 185's and a comp cam designed for nitrous....now i ran without the juice cause i am installin it today...ne wayz times were not [email protected] a convertible...full weight on et streets....spare tire, jack, no skinnies all seats in and everything..car weighed 3850 without driver...so im gonna hook up this Nitrous express wet kit and spray either 100 or 125 just wanna get into some 11's...now my q is this i dont wanna use the micro switch i wanna have total control of when the spray comes on....how would i wire the soloniods?? the fuel soloniod has 2 red wires and the n20 soloniod has 2 blue wires which ones are ground?!?! and which are positive??

3800+lbs without a driver?HOLY CHIT MANG!!! So its 4000lbs with a driver!! Then those are "VERY" good times!!:nice: Sorry,I dont know much about nitro's:shrug: Hope you have a roll bar, because a 125 shot is gonna put you faster then the NHR rule of 11.49!!

I ran a dual stage Zex system for the longest time. Make sure you retard your timing and by god, use the micro switch..... you'll be sorry if you don't. You should be able to hit 11's if you hook up

On the nitrous solenoids it doesn't matter which one you use for the ground. So just choose a wire.

Personally I would use the microswitch. Part throttle nitrous activations are not a good thing.

I also believe that the rule for rollbar in a vert is 13.49 or faster. The 11.49 is for hardtop cars. I could be mistaken though.

I think your rite

You could use a push button switch wired thru the micro switch so you could only activate the hand held switch when you were at full throttle. It could be useful at the track when you start to get loose you could let go of the hand held switch and not get out of the throttle. I wouldnt suggest it unless your dead set on controlling the hit yourself. If I had to do it over again I would use a window switch to activate at a set rpm. I would also have a progressive controller to bring the nitrous on at a certain % and ramp it up as the rpm rises. Its fun with the instant rush of power but it doesnt do any good if your spinning the tires.

Like said, the solenoids are not power bias. They work hooked up either way. I ran mine with relays. Power to the solenoids, and ground to the solenoids with the fuel pressure safety switch and micro switch as the trigger for the relay. I also ran a complete dedicated fuel system for nitrous enrichment... I misssssss my 83... :( I had 165s, nice size Comp Cam, Torker II intake, and a Cheater kit... Had a Jaz 1 gallon nitrous enrichment tank and a Holley blue feeding the fuel solenoid.

exactly all the safty and all the cotrol you want. Throw on a rpm window switch and a fuel press safty switch and you can go into safty overkill.

on useing a microswitch, you get used to it at the bottom of the petal feel, and an kick it on or off pretty easy while still being at WOT, so you do have pretty dam good control without an addional button.

Thanx

Thanx for the tips guys....13.49 or faster i do need a bar as i found this out when i got kicked off....my 60 foots were consistently in the 2.0's and i was launching not too hard not too soft 2500 - 3000 gonna launch harder next time...i will use the micro switch when i install the juice...and th car will get a 2 stage chip 1st stage n/a 2nd stage nitrous...just hopin to break 11's with nitto 555r's and low to mid 11's with my et streets which i used to run the 12.47...will heat the tires up more it was my first time running slicks so i didnt wanna go crazy but i have a feeling if i can get the 60 foot to the 1.7's i can bang out some 11's n/a

well i believe so..its not a pre programmed one...im takin it to www.bieberfever.com in phoenix az and they dyno tune it there wil be a external switch somewhere in the car so when i wanna use the n20 i just flip the switch and i guess it does whatever they prgram it to..drop timing in certain increments or whatever....dont think i should do it?? should i just run timing at 8 or 10 degrees and be ok? i already swapped out the plugs with the ones nx reccommend for my car with my mods....just though since i havent had my car dynotuned it would be a good idea

as long as they know what they are doing you should be fine. Just as a note I have usaly found more power in N2O cars by tuneing the fuel/N20 (flowing them) then trying to run the max amout of timing. but if you want to get the max out of your system do both.

The flip chip is actually a pretty nice idea. You have a nitrous tune with less aggressive timing and then an NA tune with more aggressive timing and what not. With the flip of the switch can change your tune.

Flip chips may be good if you ALWAYS remember to turn them on the nitrous tune. My personal preference would be to install a MSD or other brand timing retard box wired thru the nitrous solenoid. When you activate the system the timing retard box would only work when you power up for nitrous use. The rest of the time you could run your normal timing. The box has different pills to install for more timing retard. Nitrous is cheap for a starter kit but all of the special parts add up quick.

i would be easy to wire the way you want to. just bring 2 of the wires from solinoid to the switch nad ground 2 of them. then bring power to the switch. now you have control on a button. the thing is better to have it on the micro switch so that all it takes is to move your foot and the nos comes off. way safer.
