Took my car to the shop 2 weekends ago to have em diagnose that buzz I was hearing. Tech said it by the sound it was the bearings going out. So I was talking to the owner / manager and he said it would cost about $900 for parts and labor to have em replaced.

Now, thumbing through some of my magazines I seeing transmissions for like $1300, however the ads dont say whether they're new or rebuilt.

So is it dumb to spend 900 on a rebuild instead of getting one of the "new" ones for a little more? Or should I even bother putting another 3650 in? My car is an 01 which is the year they switched midproduction, could i put the previous type tranny it and would i want to?

I hate feeling ignorant when I talk to the guys at the shop about this kind of stuff so any info is appreciated.
