Living where you can't get to the track but 7 months out of the year at most, I haven't been able to get new footage for a while. But since I have some serious mods planned for Scarlett, I thought I'd make a video of just her racing scenes. It'd be better if I wasn't racing 10 and 11 second cars every time. Come April, I may not mind as much.

Dark, I know the feeling. My very first drag strip tuning session in my monte carlo ss netted me a similar experience.

I was at Byron Dragway and Mike Moran was testing a new body on his car. My 11.17 against his 6.98 at 200mph pass made me feel slow. Until then I had been a street racer. My first honest track experience wasn't all that enjoyable.

I couldn't hear my car idle, let alone feel anything as we left the line. I was a little discouraged.

It was kinda funny too, cause he did a John Force style burnout to about the 100 ft mark on the track, So I went with him so as to not be out done and the track personnel were pissed at me. As is at most tracks, nearly all street cars can do their burnout with room to spare and stop short of staging.

Bottom line, I couldn't hear a thing, he posted his time and had the chute out and I was turning onto the return road while I was at half track.

Here's a shot of that car as it looked way back then:

So I guess with my 13.109 run, Mike would've been back in the pits and his crew might have had the engine and clutch pulled by the time I got to the stripe:rlaugh: Of course that would be after the light went green and watching him pull away, I'd wonder if I was still standing on the brake pedal at the tree:D

Perhaps you could setup a race between a 6 sec car and a 13 sec and start from the 1000' mark and see if you could beat them!
I know I heard an advertisement on the radio for when NHRA came to town last year. They were comparing the speed of a Top Fuel car to a NASCAR Cup car. "If Dale Jr was gong 200 MPH past the start line the exact time a Top Fuel car launched it could run him down and get to the 1/4 mile stripe first." That is amazing!

That's one reason I probably won't come out there. Too many sub 10 second cars. I mean, there's plenty here, but there seems to be a lot more up there. Usually there's plenty of cars in my bracket here. The races they happened to catch that day on camera just happened to be against those cars. We took about 8 trips down the 1320 that day. I have plenty of fun. I don't care about being faster than drag cars. It just doesn't make for great video when the guy next to you is running 3-5 seconds faster.
