The FVSA on my suspension is 100" from memory. I will have to go back and double check all my notes and calculations. I built everything in CAD at work and used that to check all the geometry.

TheKid,

thanks for the interest. I have been driving my car a lot and no issues very predictable handling. Maybe the end of january i will take it to the SCCA event at qualcomm just to have some fun.

5280/4,

Just to echo 10secondgoal, you really, really, really need to lawyer up, set up a LLC to protect yourself, and get as much liability insurance as you can if you are going to sell your plans - or have people "donate" money to you for them.

If you are not a PE and don't have liability insurance, I'd spend the money to have a PE put his stamp on your design as another safety factor.

God forbid if someone uses your design, and something happens - lawyers will drag expert witnesses in front of a jury to nit pick at every component of your design, fastner selection, safety factors, etc, etc, etc.

It is a sad fact that this is simply the truth for the society that we live in.

That said, it looks like a sweet little setup.

Good luck...

Hey Guys,

I havent been on here in awhile. So i agree about talking with a lawyer to protect myself. I am a mechanical engineer but not a PE. At the moment I will not be selling any of my plans or designs.

As for track time, not yet. I was designing and building a coilover suspension for my dads 65 mustang. Its a bolt in conversion using stock control arms. This one got to see some time a tthe drag strip. the front suspension performed as planned. My car needs some more work before I can get it to the track. hopefully a SCCA event this summer and maybe a weekend at the drag strip.

I am currently in Escrow, trying to buy my first house. so that may really delay the progress on my car.

Mostly fabbed everything. The ball joints are afco chrysler style screw ins with the correct taper. I think K727. And threaded ball joint holders. Everything else is materials and fab work. Afco shocks are 3870 T2 double adjustable. Oh and 3/4" chromoly rodends.

what are you using for strut rods and most importantly ,for me anyway, where did you get the front mounts for the strut rods? they look very much like TCP pieces.

The front mounts are TCP. I hate how heavy they are. I will be changing those to another design that I have come up with. The advantage of the TCP swivels was it got the mock up and build completed much faster while I pondered a better solution for teh k-strut.

The strut rod is an afco swedged steel tube 3/4-16 LH/RH threads.

hmmm, well when you're ready to ditch the TCP parts let me know, i'd definitely might be interested in buying them from you.

Did you fabricate the shafts for the upper a-arms or did you source them somewhere?

The UCA shafts are from TCP. I bought them for $25 from TCP. I could not build them for that.

The only ones I see on the site are the offset ones and they list them for $60 apiece. Still cheap... I'm looking for a shaft I can use with roller bearings in the stock uppers but maybe I'll do what you did. Most of the shafts are for chevys and the mounting bolts are too far apart and a lot of them are so wide they won't fit inside the shock tower.

Yes the TCP shafts are available if you call them. The drop shaft were not ideal geometry for what I wanted my susepnsion to do. I think DAZE and Maier and Opentracker all have shafts for the roller bearing conversion.
