I am a newbie or as my dad puts it, "young en" to cars. Been around them and done work here and there but never tried to install a carb by myself. How hard is it ? Any advice or manual for a newbie to get his feet wet ? Right now I have an AutoLite 1100.

Righty tighty - lefty loosey X 4.

exactly - it's as simple as the four bolts that bolt it onto the manifold, and hooking up the accelerator linkage. My Mustang was my first project car, and I remember my dad telling me to tighten each bolt a little each, and not to over tighten as it would have stripped the intake manifold... but I think my intake manifold was aluminum. It's nothing too hard, once you get that finished - you'll be anxious to do more work to it!! It feels great doing something by yourself to your own car, truly rewarding - I wish you luck, and have some fun!! :D

Thanks stangman for the encouragement....and that since of reward is exactly why I am doing this !!!! I always assumed it was one of those things where there were little "tricks" or details to doing it right that someone with little first hand experience could do. The one I have has the automatic choke that is always sticking it seems, thus the post. Combine that with other issues I know it's having and I figure it's time for a new one.

What kind are you replacing it with??? Autolite's are very good carbs, or at least that's the opinion I get from everyone who has one anyway. Do you have an I6, because that is an awfully small carb for an 8 in my book.
