Newbie Induction Question

Hey, I've got a 1991 2.3l Mustang lx. I was reading a member of StangNet's webpage and i saw on there that a cheap and easy mod is to remove the air silencer to gain air flow. I haven't really attempted any mods to the car prior to this because i felt that there was nothing you could do to boost the speed of the car. However, i saw all the people on here that found ways so i thought i'd give it a try. Well i removed the air box and i couldn't find anything resembling a silencer. I basically wanted to know if someone with a model similar to mine could post a picture of the silencer so that i have a better idea of what it is im looking to remove. Sorry I'm a little to lazy to get out and shoot a pic but I will say its like a "L" shape kinda and snakes around the radiator to grab air. Heres a link if you decide to do more to the air intake of your car.

Yeah, it is a small rectangular box looking thing that is connected to the front of the big airbox. (the one with the two hoses connected to the top) I think there is only a screw or two holding it in and it should just come right off.
