newbie question: exhaust

Well, im not a newb to stangs, but i am to this forum.

I just got a 91 GT HB ATX gave to me from my dad, but its all stock.

im looking to do something to the exhaust, but i don't wanna spend an arm and a leg on it.

I want something a lil louder, with a lil more HP, but i don't want to spend over $200 installed for the stuff.

I saw a pair of Flowmaster mufflers on Ebay for $100 shipped and then i was gonna get the tips straight out the bumper instead of the turndowns (i hate turndowns)

Does that sound like a good setup for now?
I was just gonna cut the mufflers out and get the new tips, but i heard that would sound like crap.

If you want louder exhaust, then any aftermarket will do it. As for the sound of it, you'll have search many forums, etc. Downloading sound files from, say the exhaust manufacturers, may be a good idea too. I just let my stock mufflers get old and rusty and they sound pretty good. I still don't get the power I could from better pipes, etc.

get yourself a used catback...either mac or flowmaster along with an off road h pipe...you will definitely be pleased with the sound. And it's easy to install yourself.

go to www.mustangxhaust.com for exhaust clips...tells the combo and has a clip; you do have to register, but it's no big deal.

deff some 2-chamber mufflers original.

well, i had the car on the rack today to get a price on the exhaust work.
the original owner cut the stock mufflers and welded in glasspaks.

I already bought the Flowmasters off ebay.

The flows will sound better then the paks right?
