Sorry guys, but for the life of me I can't remember if the transmission in the 2001 V6 is a T-5. I know one of you guys knows this, so help me out, I wanna get the FRPP aluminum D-shaft, but it's only for T-5 trannys and I don't know if mine is or if it's a T-45. I called and asked ford and they said it was a TR-3650, which you all know is total BS! ...So anyway, which one is it. Sorry I feel like Captain Obvious.

"* 2001 Mustangs could have a T45 or the new 3650 if it was built in or after Feb of 2001. ALL 2001 Cobras and Bullitts have the new 3650 tranny. " - found at here:http://www.partshopper.com/fordmustang/itemdesc.asp?ic=TL-WB-1005 I'd go by what the dealer says..I'm sure you can use your VIN to find it somehow.

I could be wrong, but I'll see what I find.

I take it back, it is the T-5. I was just second guessing because I knew that was the transition year. That, and I looked in up in the ol' chilton's manual.

^ you were partially correct there. however ALL 5spd v6 mustangs have a t5. 99-00 gt's have a t45 and all gt's/cobras/bullitts etc. after feb 01 have the tremec 3650, minus the 03/04 cobras with the t56
