Ok, I know absolutely nothing about mustangs, so I suppose the questions are fairly basic.

I have a friend restoring a 1969 mustang into which he is putting a new ford 302 crate engine (345hp I believe). I also know he's putting in new rear end gears as well, but I am not sure what ratio (maybe 3.73 or 4.10...not really sure).

My question is regarding what kind of performance he should expect out of this car. It will have street tires and a manual tranny. With this info what should this car be expected to run (speed and time) in the 1/4? How about top speed?

Thanks

Well, there is a lot more to quarter mile performance than gears and engine and tranny...there's also tire height, compound, and width. The chassis' ability to plant the tires and control the car.

Assuming the suspension is bone stock and you are utilizing an "average" BFG 225/60R15 tire on 15"x7" wheels, I think low 13s is probably pretty accurate at somewhere just above 100 mph. That is assuming he's using 4.10s. He will need them with that car's weight, that tire height and that engine. The engine will also need to be tuned (and I don't mean "that feels close," on a chassis dyno). That is based on a lot of assumptions.
