So im comin home tonight from hanging out with my boys and i see a 2005 Maxima, a real nice car, one of the SE editions, the "racing" edition one. My friend has one so i knew the car right away, now they are NOT fast cars, but they are quick. We(05 GT and prob even V6 owners) would roast him up. He was drivin my speed, 80-85 so i figured it was fair game, since they can move up to 100 without any real problems and zip in and outta traffic. So we were messin around a lil and my GT would walk him every time without a problem, as it should. But comin home i have this perfect strip of highway for about a 1/2 a mile where it is 5 lanes across and people know to move on, but the left and next over are always open or even if you would have to do some swift manuvering you can really move without it being dangerous or everything(of course i know the dangers and blah blah blah but its a once or twice a day thing i get to let her really breathe, living in NYC and all, there isnt much room to even more) So, i was in 4th doin 70 with him infront of me and when we got to that opening i punched it and flew past him...... I NEVER KNEW HOW POWERFUL 4th GEAR IS... DAMMM :D :D :D it pulled like there was no tomorrow and left him totally in the dust.. i ran it from 70-120 like it was nothing, just in 4th. It was amazing, tonight was possibly one of the greater times ive had with this amazing car.

I also did some research... 4th is so powerful that you can run it from 40mph-130, just in that gear. LOL to me, that truly says something.

Now for my question. My friend owns a lexus but doesnt know much about cars or car detailing. I said I would find out for him, since he along with my other friends come to me for some simple questions, but I wasnt exactly sure on this. He got new chrome rims and was complaining of the brake dust, how it was a pain(lol i was ragging on him for flooring it and slammin on the brakes too much). I wanted to advise him to spray tire shine on it cause I thought I heard that helps the dust from sticking but I said I would ask first. Is this true? thanks

P.S. sorry for the long post and hope you like my story :nice:

Good kill :nice: ........

Funny you would mention a Maxima, I too had an entertaining encounter this very morning with an 04/05 Maxima (don't know the car well enough to call the model year for sure)......

I am driving down the interstate this morning running about 5 over at 75mph and some import silverstars run up fast to within a car length of my bumper. Drive along another mile or so without changing speed, and the driver is now riding my bumper VERY tight (I can no longer see his headlights). So without even dropping out of sixth, I ease into the throttle and run it up to about 85 and signal left as I chage lanes to pass slower traffic in the right lane. He catches up fairly quickly and matches my speed, again riding my bumper (which is really starting to piss me off). I decide to ease off slightly to about 75 and navigate the upcoming traffic in a safe and responsible manner. All the while I am hoping things "clear up" before my exit so that I can demonstrate some American V8 power for this clown.

Well I eventually get my wish and end up with about a 1/4 mile of completely open road with nothing in the left lane for about 1/2 mile. Knowing I did not "need it all" I dropped back into fourth at about 75mph and nailed it. Well he was ready and nailed his too. In my quick run up to 130mph, I put at least 10-12 lengths on him (heck maybe more, it's hard to tell when they are so far back) and pulling bad. I tapped my brakes, let of the gas, and signaled right. I move over to the right lane and am coasting down as he comes by in a full throttle ricer fly-by. I estimate he is running 135-140mph and he almost eats a car in the left lane and has to get on his brakes hard and cut into the other lane, dangerously weaving in and out past several other cars.

I bet he felt he somehow "won" since he passes me LOL
