Nitrous Questions??

Learn to read and quite beating a dead horse! They started the crap, I gave an opinion and they didn't like it. If you give expect to receive. young , yeah... been driving for 2 or 3 yrs, how much can you know other than what you have heard and then you just repeat it without knowing. I only comment on experience. damn let it go or we can go a few if you like!

I don't have time for this, but you keep telling us you have experience with nitrous. What was your experience that makes you think it's unsafe?

To the thread starter, I believe this is the Focus pump part number, you'll need it - 3S4Z-9H307-BC

There is a lot of really bad advice/information in this thread.

I have been running a NOS 125 shot for 2 years without so much as a hiccup. NOS rates their kits at the crank so that translates into just under 100 at the wheels when the pressure is right at 1000psi which is optimal. I run stock timing with colder plugs and 93 octane gas. If its hot outside I will go ahead and run 50% 108 octane race fuel as added insurance. I have an auto so I dont run a window switch but if I had a stick I wouldnt run without one. Nitrous is as safe as the guy behind the wheel and whomever set it up. As with any of the other methods you can destroy your engine with too big a shot/too much boost. I dont recomend anything over 125 to the wheels on a stock 2v. Anything above 100 to the wheels and you need to start pulling timing. Every car is different to some degree and for that reason as soon as your kit is installed GET IT DYNOED. Not necessarily for any other reason than to ENSURE YOUR A/F RATIO IS GOOD. Lean conditions cause engines to blow whether they are turbo/charged/sprayed.

Oh and to the guy with the centri. I have yet to be beaten by a centri in the 1/8th. Ive even raced guys with significantly higher HP than me. Granted I would rather have a centri but for no other reason than I hate filling bottles. As far as the track is concerned though nitrous is king IMO.

Nitrous = torque. Plain and simple.

For every blown intake you show me I can show you a blown motor on a turbo or supercharged car so your point is what?

LS2KLR has been running a 225 shot for a few years. I would say thats a pretty damned good run. It sucks that it happened to him but if you read the entire thread you will see he is buying a new intake and reinstalling the spray.

I guess your talking about me.... Have you raced at a 1/4 mile track and if so what are your times? Ive raced nitrous guys on the street and at the 1/4 track they usually pull me the first 200-300 feet but Im usually around them or going around them by the 1/8 mile. Ive raced a kid in town at Osceola w/ 150 shot, 4.10s, and full exhaust with LTs and I still beat him by 2 cars. This was before the IC, smaller pulley and new tune.

The problem is centri cars dont really shine untill the last 1/8.

Hmmmmm, been just the opposite for me. I never have trouble with stock block blower cars . What are you running in the 1/4?:D

Are you stock block, if so damn, 12.7s NA is pretty impressive. You'd hurt me pretty bad. lol The best I ran was 12.6x @ 109 with 2.09 60ft. couldn't hook with the Nitto DRs. I figure Im low 12s now with the IC, Pulley, and Tune. Hoping for mid 11s once the block and other goodies are in. Shooting fow low 11s high 10s when I'm all said and done though.

Yep, I'm all stock longblock, just pullies, upper plenum/throttle body and longtubes:D The Nitto's are killing you at the track. Try some 15" Hoosier QTP's or E.T. Streets and you'll surprise yourself:nice:

^^ Thats crazy! I guess it shows you how much a good drivers worth. I’ve been thinking about adding a small 50-75 shot once the blocks in, but I'm still little hesitant though. :D

I already have some E.T.s in the garage waiting to go on. Cars under storage insurance right now, I wish I wouldn’t have put it in storage because we have had like 1" of snow all year here. Come end of January, as long as we don’t have snow, it will be out since thats when the blocks going in. I can’t wait till April/May though, when it starts getting nice. Hoping to get some 1.8-1.7 60' and with the new mods be in the 11s. I’m going after a friend of mine’s 03 Cobra.
