Nitrous Walkthrough/Advice

Thank you! This was EXACTLY what I was looking for! Once it's installed I will try all of this out, thank you for the walkthrough.

On a sidenote, what other modifications do you have that resulted in the 12.7X time? I'd love to have a general idea of what the car will run after the nitrous. Thanks again.

Just remember though.... listen to the engine and have your finger on the button or foot ready to lift. You nail the rev limiter on the juice and it won't matter how tough that tranny was built.... the engine is what leans out. :p

Now, what got me to the 12.79 this past year:

3,000 Street Edge Converter, TransGo shift kit, 3.73s, Cobra Intake, 75mm pro-m M/A, 24lbers, 65mm TB, MagnaFlow mufflers, O/R h-pipe, performance chip, Eibach drag springs, Adj. Strange Shocks, 255lph fuel pump, Mac pullies, 17" nitto drag radials

Back when my engine had more compression and was as stock as my car has ever been, but I did have the 3.73s and shift kit. I made these videos: http://gcomfx.com/pages/stang/movies.htm

75 shot dropped me from a 15.07 to a 13.87 on street tires :nice:

The biggest mod I added for N/A times was the converter: http://www.100mphclub.com/movies/edgestall.mov

As you can see in the video my car had slowed down N/A over the years. Plus I had the Cobra Intake. Not a good combo to have a Cobra Intake and the stock converter. I lost the low end grunt the car needed to get the jump off the line. Also note the times listed in the stall video.... I actually got the car down to a 14.2x then added the springs and rear shocks to get my 14.07. Again the car was losing compression the whole time.

How much did that rebuild cost you? I know my car will be faster once I get a fresh AODE or a T5 in there. Mine feels wierd in many ways lol.

It cost me $1489 after taxes and it was ready for me in two days.

didn't you say you got a wet kit???

Just remember though.... listen to the engine and have your finger on the button or foot ready to lift. You nail the rev limiter on the juice and it won't matter how tough that tranny was built.... the engine is what leans out.

Yeah, I do understand that lol. UPS says it'll be here tomorrow and I'm excited.

So, with the setup in my signature + a 255lph fuel pump, subframes connectors, and a 100 shot (I'm sure I'll end up using it lol),... what do you think my car will run in the 1/4th?

Here's the deal. The stall will really only help you N/A on street tires. With the stock stall I could spray my car out of the hole and it would hook and go.... 1.98ish on regular old street tires.

You most likely won't be able to get that vert moving juicing it off the line. Tire smoke = poopy times. LOL You'll probably have to launch, hook, then spray it. Not ideal for getting a low HP, heavy car moving.... but it can work.

I really think you should be able to get into the 13s if you car is good mechanically and you practice a bit. Some guys like to footbrake their car at the line and stall it up. My car loses 2 tenths doing that. Mine likes to launch from an idle. There again, it could have been to the low compression of my tired engine when I finally got a stall. I'm definitely going to try to foot stall it with the 331.... see if it helps.

I know you are eager to get to the 100 shot. I actually ran my car every other w/e for 6 months on the 75 shot. As you step up on a dry shot without a tuner, I had to make adjustments to the timing and/or fuel pressure. It's really not that fun to have it ready for the 125 shot, but run poopy N/A.

Yeah, I'm very aware that the 75 shot will be used for a while until I'm used to it and everything. I'm equally aware that the 100 shot WILL happen after that lol. I've found that the car likes to me footbraked off the line, but just not as high as everyone else seems to think I should. Usually footbraking to about 2500 seems the best. Come springtime I'll try different combinations and see what results in the best times.

It's here!
