Nitto 555 vs. BFG KDW *FIGHT!*

A few years ago when i went with Nt555 in 285 for the rear and 265 for the front, I vowed never to buy a different set of tires, they were awesome, after those years I started to notice that the tires were just peeling out and I was not getting any traction, yet, there was lots of thread left, I figured they were over inflated, but even at 15 psi the tires were like rocks, all they would do was peel out and create smoke.

In May I bought some KDW's 2 and 295' for the rear and 275 for the front. These tires look awesome and i finding out that I can finnally floor it and actually get some tracion. The thread looks like it will last for a while.

I have know vowed not to buy another set of tires.

I'll probably be back in a few years reveiwing the tires.

BTW the car was not a daily driver with the Nittos, and I hated driving in the rain with them, especially at the end when they had like 15,000 miles on them. Now the car is a daily driver and the driveability in the rain has just increased tenfold with the KDW2's I love them.

This is a tough call. I would say to try the Nittos, as I have had BFG products in the past. Not saying they aren't good, but it's fun to try different/comparable/competing brands to make sure you capture the market's offerings.

Whatever you do, avoid Sumitomos... They are genuine junk.

unless you plan on dry driving only, then all of the above stink in anything more then a light drizzle. I'm going back to the stock F-1's on my Cobra for that reason, and getting a spare set of rims to keep my DR's on for track days.

There are way better options than Bfgoodrich tires for the money. Nittos being just one of them. Bfgs just simply don't last. I had a set of kdw's that lasted 9000 miles and my mother (yes my mother) had kdws's on her wrx that lasted 10000 miles. That to my mind is pathetic for the amount of money you spend on them.

I've also got a set of KDWs which I've yet to put on, but am excited to try. Seems like they are either hit or miss; people are getting barely 10k miles on them or an easy 30k. Hope I'm one of the lucky ones...

Thanks...Your input has been helpfull!:nice:

I've been running the nittos for years and just recently swapped to the bfgs. The bfgs hook alot better but won't last a year. I usually get new nittos every year but the bfgs won't even make it that long. Also, being my car is daily driven, the bfgs are a nightmare even in light rain. I've never once had a scare with the nittos but every time it rains my back in floats around with one time going sideways at 60mph. I'll be swapping back to the nittos real soon.

Which BF's are you running?

Don't know the exact series but its the drag radials.

Off subject, I've had the Nitto 555r's and as a drag radial the wear pretty fast. O...I guess I was racing on them at the track and street every week so...... yea... :D :rlaugh:

The KDW-2's are a heck of a tire. So are the triple 5's. Both have a 300 treadwear rating. KDW's have a AA traction rating whereas thr 555's are A. Either would be a great choice, but I will go KDW-2's next time.
