rear tires and front tires are different. you guys ever do this?

The G-Force T/A KD is pretty much the best gripping street tire ever offered by BFG. Do not confuse it with the KDW, KDW2, or the KDWS as they have a lot more tread pattern cut into them and are wet driving capable and all season respectively. The KD is a "dry weather only" summer tire. To my knowledge it is no longer made, or at least is no longer listed on BFG's website.

If you are wondering about the legitimacy of this tire, look no further than what the 2000 cobra R (a true factory racer) came with from the factory. Their grip is absolutely ridiculous for a street tire both in a straight line and when you are forced to use the steering wheel or brakes. On top of that, if you can avoid regular burnouts you can easily get 12,000 miles or more out of them. However, don't drive in any conditions that involve water on the road, it might end up being the last drive you take.

I have 17x9 steeda ultralites on all corners, and use 275/40/17 on all corners. On your setup, barring any modifications you would have to do to your fenders or fender wells, you could easily run 315/35's out back...maybe more.

while i think this tire is def not the best for the rain, i dont think it would be hazardous if one got caught out in a rain storm - least i hope not. from what i understand tirerack tests each tire they carry on a closed course track. while this tire did not score high, it did place "good" in the catagory of hydroplane resistance and wet traction. BFG's representation of their tire states: "The g-Force T/A KD is designed to deliver BFGoodrich's Traction/Advantage to increase the performance capabilities of sports cars, sports coupes and performance sedans by providing remarkable dry road performance (hence the "D" in KD) while providing satisfactory wet traction. The g-Force T/A KD is not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice." they also mention: "...features a asymmetric tread pattern (with large, stable blocks to provide more outer shoulder contact area than almost any other street tire in history) which increases cornering traction and steering response, combined with directional water evacuation channels to help resist hydroplaning and enhance wet traction..."

i dont think i would have chosen this tire if the car was my DD. i have to say tho, the main reason i went with these was because of the price. i could not find a pair of new 295/35/18s anywhere else for $344 shipped.

very good point about this tire being factory on a cobra r, i did not know that. a car of that caliber would have to have a more than adequate set of tires.

hopefully these tires will be safe if conditions were to get slippery

Sumitomo HTR-Z 315/35/17 out back, and 245/45/17 General Exclaim UHP's up front.

Nothing wrong with mix matching them.

I never match tires. My 04 Cobra with 8,000 miles have F1's up front and Nitto's out back. My 96 Cobra with the Vortec had Firestone SZ50's up front and Nitto's out back. My 81 notch with the mod motor in it had 245 Goodyear Gatorback up front and 285 F1's out back.

there is a ebay tire dealer that sells a variety of tires for really good prices. these are not 2nds and are not used. i believe he purchases several that will be or that are discontinued. i think this is reason for the lower prices.

My granddad is running Nitto 555's on the back and Goodyears (don't remember the type, I think whatever came from the factory) on the front on his Mach 1. Car drives, rides, and handles great.

My vote still goes for the Nittos. I have had nothing but good luck with them so far, and I love them. Best hooking street/daily driven tire I have ridden on yet, and mine have 15000 miles and over 100 passes at the track, and I couldn't tell them apart from my granddad's brand new ones. And they are cheaper than almost everything in their performance range. I haven't heard a single person complain about them. The local tire guy near where I live said that he has heard lots of people recommending them.

I have 275/40/18 Summitomo in the Front and 305/35/18 Nitto DR's in the rear. They're brand new and ride fine (hell I've even driven them it in snow),
but as for traction the Nittos get a "0" in my book (never had luck with them on the Lightning either). I figure I can go from New to Bald in a season no problem, when the rears go I'll replace them with ET Street Radial II.
I have had AMAZING results with ET Street Radial in 15" but never tried them in 18". They way I figure it ANYTHING has to be better than 555R's...

I should point out at a certain power level the 555R's are probably a great choice, but all 3 of my L's had over 600 RWHP and they were useless to me.
This Cobra is much more powerful with the Power to Weight Ratio so traction is MUCH WORSE and basically non existing right now...

i think you are more right than i thought you were

i called bf goodrich and spoke with a rep asking about wet traction issues. they stated this is not the best wet traction tire but it still is safe provided the driver is aware of this fact. in other words, dont drive like a moron on a wet road in them. the rep added that they have never had a call-in complaint about rain issues with this tire (home office comfirmed this).

also called tirerack and they personally tested this tire. wes (nice guy) told me that they have tested this tire and it is not good in the rain. when compared to other top competitors, it isnt good at all. however, he did say that this tire is perfectly safe in the rain but would not be his choice by a long shot. i can see why. the kdw's are quite a bit less than the kd's and they are a better tire. i knew this before i bought but like i said, i got a steal on them. i researched them and knew what i was buying but now the deeper i dig, the more im second guessing myself.

if the car was a DD, id sell 'em no questions asked and buy something else. while my car isnt a show car, it will not see rain unless by accident. inevitably tho, that will happen. just want some confidence that if im caught on the interstate doing 65 and a rain storm hits, i wont be sliding all over the road. bfg and tirerack both claim that it is safe in that situation....
