Nitto Drag radials

What do you guys think about nitto's drag radials?
I've had a pair on my car and am trying to decide if I want a new pair or just go with the 555 extremes. My problem was that they slip like no other untill they are warm, and the only way to warm them is to burn out. They look cool, but with a 15,000 mile tread life is it worth it?

I just installed the 555 Extremes on mine. I've heard that unless your
taking it to the track alot or it is strictly 1/4 mile duty the extremes are
the way to go. Sticky, don't need to burn them to get em that way, and
will last a lot longer than the drag radials. I can tell a huge differance
from the stock Goodyear crap.

Extremes...you must mean nittos regular tire? Don't count on a .3 improvement in 1/4 mile times like you can a nitto or bfg drag radial. I garantee you there is a huge performance increase with a drag radial that you simply will not get with a regular street tire.

I think you can get between 15-20k if you dont go to the track much and dont do burnouts except at the track. Problem is most people get burnout happy and heat their tires for 30+ seconds and do it all the street too for fun. That is the type of thing that will rape your drag radials. I'm going to be interested to see how much i can get out of the set of 315's that i got put on yesterday.

They are both great tires. My bud Tony (FFW street stang champ) ran a 1.85 60' on 555 extremes with a 12 second slip. The drag radials can produce even better 60's with good driving. later.

I'll chime in since I've had both the 555's and now the 555R.

555 - Lasted me 25000 miles. Great street tire for the price ( 150 at discounttiredirect.com ) No problems in the wet at all, dry traction was MUCH BETTER than the stock crap. I liked them and would buy again.

555R - I've had these about 2 months and I love em. I had 4.10's put in when my 555's were bald and traction was a bitch. When heated these tires hook about 3 times better then the 555's. On the street they hook up very well, and are NO PROBLEM in the rain. Don't let people scare you with this. Down here in Tejas, we just had one hell of a storm blow through. I was cought coming home from work in it, and later found out that 4 inches had fallen in 30 min. at the time I was driving. With these tires and the 4.10's in the rain I had NO PROBLEM controlling my car. Anyone who says different either can't drive, or was driving like an idiot at the time they lost controll ( to fast, swerving, getting on it )

P.S. - As these tires wear, the road conditions play more of a factor ( rain )

Sorry, I made a mistake. What I ment was they hook about 3 times as good as the stock tires normally do (without burnout). Just my opinion.
