i'm ready to buy dr's for my extra 17by 8 rims. nitto has the 245 45 17's that would fit perfect and bfg smallest size is 275 40 17 which would fit, but is not recommended for the 17 by 8. they are both priced at 160. will i have a problem with the bfg's on the 17by 8 rim or should i just get the nitto's. i'd rahter have the bfg's, but don't want to have any problems with them.

How do they hook on the street when taking off from a green light?

Get the BFG's for track tires and Nitto's as street tires.

Oh man, not only do they hook from a green light, but red, purple, and orange to. Just kidding. I,ve had the BFG's for months on my stock rims. The 275's are awsome and they hook like crazy. At the track you can get them real hot and pull 1.7 short times all day long. Nittos BFG's

Dont be conserned about the size. They look good and perform even better. These tires are the next best thing to E/T streets or slicks. You'll love them.

my concern is not looks, rather that the rim is not wide enough for the tire and the rimn will squeeze the tire and possibly pop off the rim

They fit fine on a 17x8 rim. They will not pop off or blow. I have been racing mustangs for 10 years. I have never heard about a tire popping off the rim.
Stop acting like a puss and get the BFG's

ok luke, i guess your like a mustang jedi cause you've been racing for 10 yrs. i'm not a wuss, just concerned about the fit. i am getting the bfg's, just wish they made a little narrower tire to fit on the 17 by 8 rim. the tire call for at least 8.5 or 9 inch rim so thats why i was concerned. what psi do u run them at anyway.

Thats rediculous. There wont be a .2-.3 60 ft difference between Nitto's and BFGs i garantee you. Maybe .5-.75 60 ft which is about a tenth off your 1/4 mile time. But nittos tyipcallys last 5000-7500 more miles also. Some people are not giving the full story here.
